which series (or to be series) is/will be, better? In my opinion, the lord of the rings pretty much dominates eragon. Eragon sucks.

LotR but Eragon is more fast pase and more fun to read in my opinion. Lotr takes forever to get going.

I take it we are talking about the movies and not the book series, seeing that it is the movies section of the forum?

Based on this assumption, the LOTR movies win hands down, no contest.

The Eragon movie sucked ass big time, I saw it once and that was more than enough. Quite frankly, I have had bowel movements more exciting than that movie.

The books on the other hand are probably equally matched.

J R R Tolkein’s Series of books were epic and to be to the point LOOOOOOONNNNNG.

Christopher Paolini’s Inheritance trilogy (eragon series) is a different style of novel. Its more modern and pulpy and is the perfect fodder for the newer Harry Potter generation.

It has to be noted that the lord of the rings was wriiten over 50 years ago, so much of the language and writing style is of that older time period, but the fact that the series is so popular today is a testament to its well written story and its ability to capture the imaginations of people even today.

Only time will tell if The Eragon series has the same endearing qualities.
