Actually, speaking of insane drummers and polyrhythms, here’s Derek Roddy playing an insane hand pattern over his feet playing a 3:2 polyrhthm.

Plus, here’s my particular favourite song from the recent I, Monarch album;

This guy is pretty killer, having played for Hate Eternal, Nile and various others. He’s no one trick pony either; he’s quite adept at Jazz and Blues.

Not necessarily, but in this case yes. He’s playing a 3 note pattern with his left foot, and a 2 note pattern with his right - so they overlap. After a few bars, the pattern repeats, so you could say he’s playing in two different sigs.

Must find a video of Gavin Harrison’s latest polyrhythmic outing on Fear Of A Blank Planet. At one point, he’s playing (in the space of a bar), 32 on the feet, 4 (quarter notes) with his right hand, and 10 ( half note quintuplets) with his left. I mean, Jesus Christ - keeping track of two different time signatures is one thing, but playing two types of note values at once? Fuck me.

Edit; No matter. If you’ve got a copy of the latest PT album, Fear Of A Blank Planet, play Anesthetize. Fast forward to 11:12 and marvel at the guy’s playing. Try to keep track of the snare and cymbal hits. Difficult eh? 5:2 polyrhythm (I think - I’ve been listening to it closely on repeat and I’m fucking confused =/). His playing on the entire album is astronomical anyway. If you aren’t fortunate enough to own a copy of the album, you can listen to it here.

As Blood Runs Black:

Not especially technical or anything, but that’s some intense double-bass action right thar.
