Ok i saw some people takling about lupe as the best ever.So i just had to make this topic.So lets begin.If you ask me and the guys that lived through the whole hip hop generation.Then Rakim is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy better than Lupe.I listened to some of Lupe´s songs.And to tell you the turth.He is nowhere near rakim´s lyrical level.You can compare any of Lupe´s songs to these:
Eric B. & Rakim-The Punisher,Lyrics Of Fury,Let The Rhythm Hit ÿEm,Microphone Fiend,Follow The Leader,Musical Massacre,Run For Cover,My Melody,I Ain´t No Joke and thos are just to name a few.You people should wake up and see that Lupe is nowhere near the best ever!But hey let me hear your opinion!And yes i gave you songs to compare.

You meant that i can´t match Rakim with Lupe because we know Ra is on a whole different level,if you meant that then yes your right.And Rakim isn´t called THE GOD MC for his pioneer status.He is called so because of his skills.“Lupe has gone to place with his rhyme´s that Rakim never did”???Can you define that?If you meant the content of his songs.Then Ra runs laps around him.Listened to the songs i gave?Thos are some examples of his multi syllable rhymes and his multi-meaning metaphors.He runs laps around lupe and you have to accept that.Lupe is good,but you have to put him in his place.
honestly.....lupe fiasco is ten times better then whoever the hek that other person is and you cant compare new school to old that just isnt cool you have to remember that the artist are trying to appeal to the newer aged groupes to earn respect and to make mony and some of them acctully try and lupe he tryes.

Rakim is better, no doubt. But I also love Lupe. Compared to the garbage people call hip hop nowadays, Lupe is definately one of the better ones. He has good lyrics, but the main thing is that he is real. I love the subjects of his music.
That being said, Rakim is in my top 5.
He IS one of the greatest.

I didn´t say on this forum.I meet alot of people who actually try to teach me something about real hip hop,but when i ask them who is Rakim,BDK,KRS...it´s just total silence!
alot of peeps say their fans of rap/hip hop and dont actually know anythin about the genre because they only listen to mainstream rap thats played on the radio alot like (snoop dogg, eminem, 50 cent etc).
THATS PROB WHY RAP GETS A BAD NAME.
the likes of rakim, lupe, common, de la soul etc dont get played on popular radio stations (in england)
as for Rakim V Lupe.... i have never properly listened to either so i camt comment.
