Speaking of Pantera... I was listening to Cowboys From Hell the other day lol... a great song.

I got Judas Priest’s newest album about a month ago as well... Nostradamus. Its pretty awesome. The other week I got Emperor’s Prometheus album, Burzum Anthology, and Decapitated’s Winds of Creation. They were all killer albums... amazing. Especially Emperor, I love the progressiveness and experimentality of Prometheus.

Next time I am at Fye I’m gunna go for some Pink Floyd or Dio maybe...

Liking metal is enough to get you in. Who do you listen to?

Metallica
Children of Bodom
Pantera
DragonForce (don’t kill me for this)
Megadeth
Black Sabbath
Others I can’t think of right now.

Nice choices if I do say so myself. I’ll add you to the list.

I too listen to a bit of rap, but nothing that you’d hear on the radio.

Also, I’d like someone to give me a list of recommended metal bands I should listen to. I like heavy and thrash metal more, but I’m fine with a bit of power, death, and black metal as well. So yeah, bands from these genres would be appreciated.

I find one of the most well-rounded genres to be melodic death metal. It’s pretty much all I listen to. It’s got a good crunchy sound but doesn’t sound like the artist are gay and just trying to be “BROOTALLLLLL”.

Tell me what you think of those and I’ll PM you some good bands.

Nice choices.

The first one was probably my least favorite of the four, although it was still great. I liked the two Kalmah songs best. The In Flames was good as well.

Check out a band called Necrophagist if you like some technical and melodic sounding death metal with Cannibal Corpse style vocals. Its good stuff to start out with if you’re getting into death metal. Some other good death metal bands to start off with would be Morbid Angel, Cannibal Corpse, Cryptopsy, Bloodbath, Hypocrisy, Suffocation, Diecide, and... Decapitated. Those are the bands I started off listening to.

And as far as Black Metal goes... definately check out anything from Emperor’s Anthems To The Welkin At Dusk album, or anything by Emperor in general. Deathspell Omega, Gorgoroth, Nachtmystium, Satyricon, Dimmu Borgir, Enslaved, Bathory, and Venom are great bands as well.

Out of all of those Bathory, Venom, and Emperor have to be the best... Venom especially.

For Death Metal, you definately want to start off with the softer end, unless you are looking for brutality and loudness. To start off, check out bands like Morbid Angel, Bloodbath, Deicide, Opeth, Dismember, Obituary, Vader, and most of all... BOLT THROWER!!!!!!

If you like those guys, turn your brutality ear up a bit more (death metal can take a little to get used to because of its abusive sound) Listen to bands like Cannibal Corpse, Spawn of Possession, Cryptopsy (OLD STUFF), Napalm Death, and Man Must Die.

If you want to take it EVEN FURTHER, listen to bands like Disgorge (from Mexico), Guttural Secrete, Dying Fetus, Devourment, The Day Everything Became Nothing (well, they are Goregrind, but close enough to death metal)

As for Black Metal, I am not as big of an expert in that category. I mainly listen to Death Metal, but I do love Black Metal. Bands I would suggest are:

Emperor
Burzum
Be Persecuted
Wehmut
Immortal
Gorgoroth
Darkthrone
Mayhem
Bathory

and most of all...

FUCKING “PESTE NOIRE!"

(acoutstic opening stops at 1:37 if you want to hear the Black Metal part)

As for Power Metal...

Manowar.

No, seriously. Manowar. They kick ass. They are by far the most manly and true band out there.

Oh yes, I demand that Slipknot video be replaced with Napalm Death’s music video “When All Is Said And Done."

Petrofsky: Your lack of Carcass infuriates me. Sure, Reek is straight gore grind, but you could have at least reccomended Symphonies-Heartwork.

Atresac: Why is Slipknot vid of the week? Fagtastic as it may be, I really don’t consider them worthy of such a position, what with their multiple drummers and DJ. Change it nao, plz.
