Just bought two Apex 205 Ribbon mics for the studio. Really stoked, wanted ribbons for ages. Obv they’re pretty cheap, but they can be modded to be competitive will old-school Nadys or Royers or whatever. Already spent a while modding them tonight, had to re-tension a ribbon which was a complete fucking nightmare. They’re made of 2 micron thick aluminium O__O
Edit: Somehow managed to combine Nady with Royer to make Nayers. I’m tired, k?

WIerd, the video box won’t even show up for me, but anyway, don’t worry about what is metal and what’s not, just listen to what you like, don’t try to force yourself to like metal if you don’t like it lol
EDIT: Just watched, and yeah, it is metal, kinda a mixture of symphonic and goth metal.

I have been nailing a member of a girl band signed to our label. She is also our head choreographer, and as such, both client and staff, much like myself.
My manager found out, one night when we both both drunk off our tits after a gig, and he told me I don’t like it personally or professionally, but if you like her; go for it. So I did.
A few weeks later, all hell breaks loose when he realises that we still want a relationship, and I didn’t heed his advice. We both wanted my manager’s approval, because we didn’t want to keep things secret or jeopordise our careers, even though he has no legal right to do anything about a relationship formed at work.
More shit happens, and eventually I end up in a meeting with both managing directors about my future at the company. One of them (the biggest douche) is leaving on a 6 month tour (yes, he’s both an artist and a director, see how messed up this label was?) so they wanted me to fill his place. They gave me a straight choice between my girl, or my job. Bearing in mind I’ve essentially been paid fuck-all for 6 months of (albeit valuable work experience) work, it was a pretty tough choice. I stalled my decision a bit, and one of the guys pipes up dude, you kissed her like a month ago at work, once - why do you two suddenly want a relationship?
At this point, I say HURRDURR, that’s clearly not the only thing that we’ve gotten up to...
Fired on the spot. My manager is all BAAAWWW, I DON’T TRUST PEOPLE AND YOU LIED TO ME, I CAN’T WORK WITH YOU, so I leave.
So in one sentence, I effectively lose my job, my band and trash my girl’s career. Smooth huh? Sounds like epic fail on my part?
No.
First, let’s make it clear. I got fired from my dream job for nailing the lead singer of a girlband. This is instant and epic win, and makes me extremely badass.
After being fired, I took home all of my equipment. This consisted of 98% of the studio’s gear. Not even exaggerating. Once I left, they didn’t even have a stand to put a mic on so they could track vocals. They now have a 24 channel analogue mixer, but no way of plugging it into their AD/DA converter. I now have a 10 track studio in my house. This is also win. Their studio is now no longer in use.
I was also the only person their capable of mixing real music. They had a band in once before I joined the team, and they had to google how to mic the kit. The recordings sounded like ass. I put out some kickass mixes, now on iTunes. I was always the second opinion on any mastering or mixing done by my boss, and now he’s lost my trained ears. My technical expertise vastly outweighs his, so it should be pretty interesting the first time they get a word clock error and have noone around to explain why such a thing exists, much less fix it.
The company had expanded rapidly whilst I was there, and they needed a third member of staff. By firing me, they effectively bankrupted themselves, as they can’t handle the work coming in, and have lost the studio.
Overall, it’s been quite an adventure. I’m in the process of writing and recording some demos for other local studios, and I’ll be applying to them soon. Oh, and I’ve still got the girl
tl;dr - my penis destroyed my career, yet sabotaged a company. I simultaneously suck and rule.
