I’ve noticed many reported posts were more of personal dislike then of some actually breaking the rules. There will be posts right next to each other, all of them spam, and each post gets reported. This is unnecessary as the mods will more then likely look around the rest of the page. And finally, some people find it funny to report nothing even worth reporting, for giggles or whatever the cause.
I am making this topic to remind you all that the report function is for reporting posts that break the rules. Not personal reasons. Now if you deem it truly worth the attention of a mod, then report it. But please, refrain from using the report button for every little thing you see.
- Don’t use it just because you can, that is not why it’s there. I’ve seen some ridiculous reasons for reporting posts, things that don’t even make sense.
- Only use it if it breaks the site rules or it’s a serious offense. Do not use it just because someone is being a little mean to you, or does not agree with you on something.
- Finally, don’t use it for multiple posts that are right next to each other. If they are in different parts of the site, fine. But if they are on a single page, only report it once. The mods will see the rest.
This is not a rule, just to clarify. I’m simply reminding you all of the true function of the Report Button. I’ve already talked to a mod about it and they agree. It’s not necessarily a big problem, but it’s still a problem. I’m hoping this topic will settle it, somewhat.
I appreciate those who do use the report function correctly, the mods can’t watch over every post on the site. For those members, thanks. But for those who use it improperly, please do better or simply stop.

... is getting to the point where you are pissed to hear someone say something totally negative about someone else, telling them to stop many times, and they dont, so you report them every time they do from now on... is that considered abuse?

It depends. If that person is just not a nice person or is in a bad mood, then no. But if that person is trolling or flaming you, then yes. Ask them to stop, if they don’t, feel free to report it if it’s truly that serious.
