Sorry, can' help you much there Sarah, however, I have heard that I Pods have a tenancy to break without warning. You may have to contact Apple themselves and query themsad

Yeah. Is it a second generation or first generation?

Oh and if you ever saw the the signs at I Pod retailers that say Certified I-pod Re distributer, that because when your I-Pod inevitably breaks, they take it off you, make you buy another one at half price, re furbish/repair your old broken one and re sell it.

Its true, straight from Apples mouth. Even so called NEW I-pods are actually someones old I-POD fixed up, re packaged and re sold.

Kinda Sad isn’t it. Thats why I refuse to buy a I-Pod!

Hey Skittles, sorry to hear the ipod went silly sad

*just a quick reply hear*

As well as them often going faulty 'suddenly', some stuff with rechargeable batteries gets 'confused'. Im not familiar with ipods (only used 2 types). But sometimes taking the battery off (if its removeable?) and holding the power button for about 30 seconds, can drain the power totaly from inside it. On some cell fones (and other stuff), that then forces a reset inside when you refit the battery.

Laptops have the same types of faults, but i dunno if this will make any difference to an actual ipod sad

If possible, also try another charger, as they break down too. If it’s got a removeable memory card, take that out, cos that 'can' hold things off if it goes faulty.

Erm, what else? a small hammer? (im j/k, please dont shocked).

Make sure you are using a genuine ipod charger too. Some things know if its not genuine, and they can 'ignore' the charger once they go totally flat (my Mini-XDA does that).

Isn’t it crazy, an company the size of Apple Corp. doing the dodgy like that?

Oooh, and Mr 1 2 (hello). Some MP3 players are good (and many now play video, music and fotos too), but.....

If you have a cell fone, it is most likely to be able to do all the same as an MP3/MP4 player (best types are NOKIA Series 60 range for compatibility), and the PocketPC types are next best to that. I have an N-GAGE, and that is better than my PC for music/video/films and stuff wink

Beware of imported MP4 players, cos Japan has its own special format for 'so-called' MP4 (i cant remember the name of it now), so the device wont play standard files without conversion. Unlike on a PC, you cant just upgrade the players codecs to what you like sad but you can in many cell fones now smiley

OK, its 5am, my time for sleeeeee - ZZZzzz ZZZzzz smiley

You might have pulled it out before you went through the proper procedure to eject it from your drive. If that is the case then you fucked yourself over.

This always happens to me cause I got linux on mine and it always has some kind of software failure thing. So here’s what to do. The os has been corrupted, so plug it in your computer, and itunes should load up. It should recognise that there’s at least an ipod in there, so if you have itunes 7.0 or later, click the “restore ipod settings” button and it’ll clear off all the music on your ipod, but not itunes and overite the corrupted files with the os you got when you first bought it. You can do this unlimited times. If that doesn’t work, take it to best buy if you have a warrenty. It you can’t do either of those, sell it on ebay.
