We can’t really be sure. There are people who experienced ghost encounters, while others are just too skeptical about it, saying all of those ghost videos, pictures and crap are fake. Though both sides can’t provide a hard evidence (at the moment) that they’re right and the other is wrong, like you and GOOOGLE_QUEEN are arguing here.
Speaking of which, I’m making a Half-Life 2 mod that is based from ghosts and other paranormal sh*t, but mainly it’s based from a PS2 game made by and will act as a prequel to it (Ghosthunter), and it will involve real-world ghost stories and urban legends. Not sure anymore if I can make it through with this project.

Ghosts have brains. It’s just that they’re not...material, so to speak. Also we can’t really be sure yet if there is another reality co-existing with our own which act as a sort of twisted mirror reflection of our reality ('spectral reality' if you will; ours would be called 'physical reality'), a concept many paranormalists believe on...and a concept once applied to an epic game series (Legacy of Kain). Not saying I am a believer myself, just sharing what I’ve researched for my HL2 mod.
