Without one or the other, there is just existence. Darkness is feared because of the power of light. Light is revered because of the coming of darkness.

however if you want to get technical, light contains more energy as darkness is only the absence of light and therefore darkness is nothing but the absence of energy, rendering it nothing.

So on the basis of actual power contained, light is the winner.

Light beats darkness, that’s why paladins can uberly pwn all things undead and demonic.

Darkness comes from light, however, Light doesn’t come from darkness.

So I stick with Darkness since it would be everywhere.

there is much more darkness in the universe than light, and no matter how much light there is at a time, it always returns to darkness in the end.

Think of it like this. A lightbulb when on destroys the darkness but when the light goes out, darkness reigns supreme
