Ninjas are trained to fight sleathly, built to fight with finesse. Gladiators, on the other hand, would have no advantage except raw power. Gladiators would eventually overwhelm a ninja.

Indeed. Not to mention gladiators fight lions and crap, and use flails, axes, swords, daggers, spears, etc.
