What percentage of the Mexican immigrants to the USA would you say came here legally? My brother says it’s half. The latest concenus, from what I heard was only a quarter.
If the half thing is closer to being true, why is Spanish being picked out as a second language here? “Largest minority” would not count then. Faulty reasoning. I’m not against immigration, just ILLEGAL immigration, because we have those immigration laws for a reason. This shit’s fucked our social security, and I don’t see how bringing this up makes me racist. I didn’t pick Mexicans out. American society did. Think about it. What 2 language options do you see everywhere nowadays? Spanish and English? Why not Korean or any number of other languages? Why are Spanish speaking immigrants special? Because Spanish speaking immigrants are the “largest minority”? If the illegal number is even CLOSE to half, the group as a whole should not be treated as the “largest minority”. Not that I blame the poor immigrants. I just don’t agree with encouraging outlaws, and changing things in society to include them. Especially when a majority of Mexican immigrants (unlike other immigrants who come here to integrate and make a living) just see the nation as a giant Cash-N-Go. Companies often have to spend lots more money to print things in Spanish and whatnot. I believe that the ones who moved here legally should have the same rights as everybody else. But changing things to allow all these language options is a bad idea, in my opinion. At least, that is, if you want to believe that the “ilegal percentage” is a large number. If that changes, and they are still the “largest minority” LEGALLY, I’m all for teaching our kids here a second language. And the English language is no longer a white thing. Americans of all races grew up speaking it here and it is the common language used in most businesses dealing with customer relations. Comments?
