What do you mean 'Jap'? I’ve never heard that, plus it’s insulting.
It’s called Anime because it’s short for 'Japanese Animation'. As soon as you hear the wor Anime you think, “Must be a Japanese show”. The real name for it is Manga, but Anime is the most commonly use form.
The people love it beacause they have good plots and high animation quality. It gives a sense of surealism that people can relate to.
Does the amount of the time the thread was dead for really matter? Since we can’t have the same topic twice that means we can only talk about one thing once and if the thread falls dead we can never talk about it ever agin.

Simple.
I disagree, because it’s known that “anime” is simply used as a term for those works coming from Japan.
Everything else is cartoon, and cartoon is more “shorthand” than anime, so I see no point why it should be culture-exclusive.
Because people in different places of the world call it different things.
Plus, Anime is different from cartoons as cartoons are more light hearted where as anime is a differnt style and is frequently more mature in nature.
To make a universal term for animated movies or serials is to inflict oppression on one group or another. Shouldn’t all cartoons be called anime just as all anime should be called cartoons.
The distinction lies in the culture and the differences in the styles of the two products.

Anime is no different from cartoons. A cartoon when you take images and put them together to create the illusion of movement.
A universal term for all animation regardless of where it originates from is better than having a different word for where it originates from, especially when that distinction is only for one culture. If Japanese cartoons get their own term, should cartoons from Spain, France, or Australia not get the same treatment?
All a specific word for Japanese cartoons does is create an unnecessary division between cultures, treating cartoons from japan as something completely different from a cartoon, when that is simply not true.
