This is going to sound wrong, but I seriously think Santa Claus is something the adults need more than the kids do. As you get older, you learn more, and you often learn the world isn’t such a happy place as you’d like it to be. Santa Claus seems to me like a desperate attempt by adults to convince themselves there’s still some innocence in the world. There is of course, they’re just not focusing on it, but is lying to your child really a good way to keep the world feeling... magical? Kids have their own imaginary games and characters, they don’t need extra ones invented by adults. If they never heard of Santa Claus, they wouldn’t get upset about hearing he doesn’t exist, so why do we keep on spreading these myths and taking away credit from the hardworking parents that slaved their asses off to give their kids these presents?
