anyone here think the brothers who follow froto are gay? cauz like who do you know who would approach froto like, “good morning mr. froto” hehe that guys totally not straight. I smell something fruity, anyone else smell it? and it’s not the fruity pebbles i had for breakfast...
hehehe....just remember the way he said it... “good morning mr froto”, omg look at the way he looks at him too! there was a connection, i totally saw it, chya!
I can’t tell which hobbit or hobbits you are talking about in particular, but that “gay” theory has been around forever.
You need to understand though that the culture at the time LOTR was written was much different than today and the way men expressed themselves (yes straight men) was also different.
If you are meaning Sam, the type of relationship Tolkien was drawing on was that of a batman to an officer. Remember Tolkien was in the trenches.
It always helps to know the background before passing any judgement
Also it helps to take into account author intent. There is nothing wrong with homosexuality (at all), but people seem to be very fond of “finding” it in every work of literature.....I’m not sure what started this current trend.
It works if you discuss issues of homosexuality in Virginia Woolf’s works or Oscar Wilde’s because the issue is very clearly present. However, it doesn’t work to say (for example) “omg!!! 2 men hugged in this story!!!! That means they’re gay!!!"

Well in the book Frodo and Sam did kiss ON THE LIPS at the end, but leave that up to you all to decide...
The book didn’t say they kissed on the lips and outside of American culture men kissing on the cheek happens more often.
Also, it was the end of all their hardships together and they would never see Frodo again so naturally that would happen.
It’s similar to a father kissing his boy on the forehead cus he won’t see him for maybe ever, never happened to me but it’s happened to others.
Does that make the father a gay child molestor?
NO.
