Kryptonians are NOT photovoltaic like plants, in which they take in sunlight as food and energy, they are radiovoltaic, in which they take in radiation as energy and food, but this radiation has to have a yellow spectrum in order to interact with a Kryptonian’s food/energy source in a process called radiosynthesis, because of the chemical composition of their skin cells, that open into pours for yellow spectrum radiation as a semi photosynthesis process.
The advantage of being radiovoltaic as opposed to photovoltaic, is that the surface of the crust of a planet orbiting a yellow sun in the habitable zone, is semi-minutely radio active, and if this planet has an atmosphere, the atmosphere will be extremely radioactive with yellow spectrum energy.
Now according to Superman’s feats, these vast amounts of radiation, once consumed by a Kryptonian, through pours in their skin cells, produce a human’s equivalent to protein, and this protein flexes their muscles, tightens them infinitely, and condenses them into small muscles that have the equivalent of the muscles of a thousand elephants due to their inability to wear down or tear.
It does the same to their bones, and increases their bone density to that of heavy iron found in the core of the earth, making their structure unbreakable.
Some of this energy goes into heating a Kryptonian’s eyes.
A Kryptonian has different eyes from a human, they are made up of millions of tiny discs that reflect light off of each other, Superman can move these micro-mirrors in order to focus this light into nerve endings that give him sight, or he can align them to reflect light out of his eyes, he can heat these discs at will using reserves, the heated micro-mirrors will not only reflect light particles, but vibrate them a million times over and super heat them into powerful laser beams.
These discs are moved by small nerves that are attached to them.
Now his flight is a different process that has to do with the Phantom Zone. In the Phantom Zone you are a phantom, who has no control over his body because it’s weightless, and has no mass. You’re pinned down by the dimensional barriers surrounding you, so you can’t acquire mass like light particles do. Superman can cause himself to partially enter Phantom Zone and still be in limbo with this dimension. He has such precise control that he is weightless like he would be in the phantom zone, but he is also not held down by it’s dimensional barriers because he is also in our dimension, so he will acquire mass by traveling at light speed, or he could just stop when he approaches light by detaching himself from the Phantom Zone.
This ability is the outcome of his father, Jor-El’s, time in the Phantom Zone, which he was in for a brief time according to The Last Days of Krypton. His body recorded this event, and was affected by it in ways unimaginable. His body was attached to the Phantom Zone at all times, but he didn’t have the power to reattach even partially. Superman, however, did, thanks to the yellow sun. Since Zod and his minions were in the Phantom Zone for a brief time, they also gained this ability.

Also, when their skin cells open into pours, the molecules within them vibrate and heat, this heat produces an energy field, something we call a bio-aura, a kryptonian’s eyes do this same thing, except with amplified potency and efficiency, if light didn’t pass through pours in their eyes, it would vibrate into a hyper charged particles. Superman can flex these pours closed, and produce these particles with his eyelids being mirrors that reflect and charge light, he can control the pours in such a way as to create thin beams of charged light particles, or wide beams.

Well I am superman and I disaprove this message.
This makes Superman look like one badass mother fucker!
Too bad, 100,000 Kryptonians have the power of flight without ever seeing the Phantom Zone, much less being in it. Supergirl already disproves this. Don’t think too much about this stuff, the writers don’t why should you?
But still everything makes a lot of sense, but comic books, you know... Nice theory.

I’m actually describing movie Superman, so everything I said has weight.

Ahh.. I see.
Great Job!
Most comics are lame because they use the same logic that Akira does, fantasy.
Quality movies make use of science.
Oh, and as you can see in my Avatar, I have the same eyes as a kryptonian, so I can use heat vision, which is why they were glowing.

I thought they glowed because you sold your soul on Ebay?

Superman was extremely intelligent in his first movie, but he still lacked maliciousness, no, he had no understanding of it, he could only get angry because he isolated himself from human contact at a point an age of confusion, this made him very emotional, and very compassionate for human life, but also very unaware of cleverness, and the thrill you get from conquering that which you despise.
He would get angry and say, “Sometimes I just want to tear him apart!" Where as clever anger was performed by Lex Luther, when he got angry he’d scheme a plot to overcome the source, and everything makes Lex Angry, what Superman didn’t understand was that he could act completely sane, and nice, as to deceive and get his way.
Superman was so isolated from people that he would fall for a complete nitwit like Louis Lane in the first movie, and he would find pleasure in such simple things.
That’s why I like Superman, when he is angry, he’s that same insecure teen he was in Smallville, and he’s a beast.
