I may be taking a temporary absence from MVC for purely personal reasons. The only reason I am announcing this is so that anyone who wishes to reach me via PM for moderating requests will know that I may not respond right away.

I will also sign in from time to time to check my PMs and reports, but I won’t be on as often as I have been.

Alright, my turn. Just give me some temporary moderating powers and I will take this site to god status.

Yeah I won’t be on as much either. I’m taking a serious approach to stop drinking. It’s getting out of hand and I need to stop. MvC/Internet chat doesn’t provide the human contact and help that real life communication can. I’m doing decent though. I drank only once in the last 5 days. Not bad considering I drank every day. I’m just looking for a higher quality of life and this Internet communications thing just isn’t doing it. Nothing against some of the people I’ve met on here, but too much Internet and not enough real life human interaction is unhealthy and I believe leads to a low quality of life and standards.

Why quit drinking completely? Why not manage it instead, say no more than a single drink a day?

Because a drink a week is better for you than a drink a day. He’s trying to improve his health. I applaud him for it.

I’m not saying don’t applaud him, on the contrary. I’m just saying that quitting completely is the easy way out.

I suppose 1 a day is a little to much, but 1 a week seems too little. Somewhere in between that seems about right.

I am proud of you. My mother drank all of my childhood up untill I was 17. So shes been sober a little over a year. I only drink once a month if that. In the past year I have only drank like 4 times. It can be a hard thing to quit.

I think you misinterpreting what I am saying.

When I said 'easy way out' I was comparing it to managed drinking.

As in, to stop drinking altogether is easier than managing drinking. It takes more to restraibn yourself than it does to stop completly.

Okay.. so let me get this straight.

You are telling an online alcoholic to not quit drinking but to manage his drinks because it is harder and more likely to fail?
