Cid knows not the answer to your question.

But he does seem somewhat intrigued by the question you presented. He will look into this matter further.

Cid’s found some information.

People tend to talk about themselves in the third person as a way to distance themselves from the people around them. In essence, when you speak in the third person, you’re removing yourself from the conversation. Instead of talking about it, you’re now commenting on it.

It’s a mental thing, apparently.

Here’s a question for you all to ponder upon..

Chances are, upon reading the first post, most of you decided to do your own post in the third person. Why is this? What kind of human thought process makes somebody want to do that?

Cid must investigate this further. wink

Alright some “Intelectuality” coming in here![sarcasm]

People talk in “third” person to reason with themselves on moods and to “judge” themselves on how they are acting. It is done alot through movies and magazines. Its really just a sense of narrorating your own life that gets people to do it. =/

“Chris did many things today but none of which he is proud of."

This shows more Emotion’s then :

“I did alot of things today but none that im proud of”

It also shows a better “sentence frame” and a storyline.

=)

The question was, why do people talk in the third person. Not write. Writing in the third person is a way of creating a narrative story.

Talking in the third person is a lot different.

As in “Oh, cody you smart smooth, bastard” when I have done something good for my own cause, or “Cody, you stupid sac of rat shit” when I have done something disagreeable to myself.

Cody has disassociative persoanlity disorder.
