Is humanity "ready" to make contact with EL?

now let’s suppose Aliens have made contact with us, will humanity crumble? will our ambition drive us to war? or will we all make a formidable union?

I think it depends on the aliens; if they’re really tolerant we may be ready, as our governments would likely at least give them a warm welcome. Though the same can’t really be said for the population, and their reaction may not be as welcome.

I think if they arrive in big-assed orbital ships, which may be a likely mode of transportation, the government would think twice of it, since we don’t know if they would be malevolent or not. (don’t want to test it the hard way, do we?)

A smart government would establish positive relations with them (assuming the EL isn’t here to probe us anally) and hope that the EL would kindly share some of their technology with us.

If interplanetary travel isn’t beyond their scope of understanding, I doubt they’ll have THAT hard a time with countries.
