They still call cell phones “magical black boxes to the underworld”

Hahaha... no

I don’t see why not. In fact, if I was hijacking a plane, cutting communications with air control or w/e would be the first priority. Because if they know where I am, it’d be to simple to shoot a plane out of the air. I think it’s highly unlikely that they didn’t make themselves invisible to radar.

It’s a fact that they were NOT invisible to the radar. And tracking device or not has nothing to do with us being able to track aircraft within our airspace.
How do you think we pick up enemy aircraft?

As for the reason it seems NORAD wasn’t able to identify and terminate the threat of the rogue aircrafts,

Several different war game exercises were in play on the day of the attack. The limited public information on these exercises shows that they simulated the following events:

* Hijackings
* Attacks on buildings using aircraft as missiles
* Attacks using toxic or infectious substances

These events are all elements of the actual attack, which involved four alleged hijackings, three jetliner crashes into buildings, and the toxic calamity at Ground Zero in the wake of the World Trade Center’s destruction.

Those don’t even seem to relate to why they didn’t knock the planes out of the air.

My mother was in the Pentagon 5th floor E ring when it was hit; probably about 30 feet almost directly below her. This was an office in the outer ring and she said that immediately the windows blew out and the floor dropped about 2 feet.

(I worked in that office the summer of 2001 and got her the interview there when I left)

With the floor dropping and smoke everywhere she was too panicked to do anything. One of the larger men there, his name was Ward, a fellow D&D nerd, carried my mother over his shoulder out of the office. When they went to exit the building there was a pillar of smoke towards the direction of the closer (and newly renovated) exit. They had to go a much longer way through a zone that was still under construction.

I did not see my mother until about 9pm that evening. when I saw her she was bruised and covered in soot. It was a pretty scary day.

because they were chasing false targets as well. There are also reports that they were not going anywhere close to their top speed during their pursuits either. The pilots didn’t know that there were real threats going on through a number of what they thought were training targets.

He said his mother was in the pentagon when the plane hit... He was working there for several of the summers prior.
