About fifty feet behind Kalis, a slight ripple appeared in the air, followed by a bolt of lightning flicking lazily out. The hairs on the backs of necks of all present stood on end as a gentle surge of energy emnamted from the disturbance. A moment later, all hell broke loose.

With a resounding *crack* a tear broke through on the site of the disturbance, quickly widening into a portal some thirty feet across. With unatural accelaricity, what resembled nothing so much as a mastless, flying frigate shot through the scar in reality. Silver lightning ran along it’s length, shooting into the ground - and the soldiers - below it. Where one would expect to find the wheel stood a mature elf, loose robes draped over his body and a shimmering globe surrounding him.
Laughing, Kalis backflipped onto the deck of the ship, still at least ten feet above his footing.
“Right on time, my friend, now get us the Hell out of here!"

Red_Calibur9this'll take some getting used to

Red had been wandering through some forest, dragging his ax, for quite a time before he realized that he was hungry. Anything would suffice, but he didn’t exactly enjoy the taste of zombie meat. He found a large bush speckled with berries and considered eating them. He meandered over to the bush, when he noticed something going on the other side. He crouched down and peered stealthily through the shrubs, curious. It appeared to be some sort of brawl going on. A bunch of generic-types, and someone with an ice sword. That person looked to be trying to break up the fight in order to get some answers, and a someone who’d been separated from the others by the ice stumbled near his bush. Without hesitation, Red brought up a zombie beneath himself for a boost, reached over the bust and grabbed the straggler around the neck, and yanked him back into the darkness. He didn’t have time to scream before Red and zombie were on him. Red cut off the man’s hand and tried to bite off a piece of flesh. Zombie didn’t seem to have any trouble.
A loud noise sounded over his tough chewing. He peeked through his bush again, to see a ship appear out of nowhere and some guy jump on it. Ships have kitchens. And thus, real food. Red decided to try and board it, not caring about the lightning that coursed about it. Red and zombie ran into the road, Red staring up at the ship wondering how he’d get up there, while zombie meandered away to try and take a bite out of the ice man.

The ship continued to move forward, the silver lightning now shooting ahead, playing across another point in space as if seeking a hold. After a few moments, it appeared to get a grip on some unknown existance, tearing open another hole in reality. The lightning pushed farther in, widening the interdimentional tunnel, until the end was out of view from the ground. The bow was rapidly approaching the edge of the portal.

Kirisar’s red eyes barely moved to glance at the zombie approaching him as the ice sword in his right hand fell down to rest close to Asuzo’s neck at the same moment the bandit slipped down and hit the ground in front of him, unable to find any footing on the frictionless ice to propel himself away. Before the bandit could react with his fast speed, the ice-sword appeared to sprout two other blades near the tip, which circled around his neck and meet at the opposite shoulder. This created a sort of inescapable brace; any movement to the sides would surely lob his head off with the sharpness of the ice, and it was tight enough to prevent up or down movement. He had the bandit on a leash.
“You appear to know something about this area. Whereabouts may I find the Azure Grimroire?“ he enquired. “If you know, and tell me where it is, I will spare you, however,“ he cut himself off in a pause, lifting his left hand up toward the zombie slow enough for the bandit to watch. Several longswords composed of ice appeared in flashes around his arm - five to be precise - and suddenly shot toward the zombie, impaling it in both shoulders, through the chest, and through the abdomen on each side. As the swords lodged themselves completely through, the ice rapidly spread through the creature, encasing it in a crystal of ice as it stood, only moments from when the swords impacted. Though the zombie was immobilized completely in a very thick layer of ice, it continued to grow into a perfect crystal form, the tip above its head and the sides smooth as glass, showing with some darkness the creature within. “If you do not tell me where it is,“ he continued at the bandit, “You can expect worse than his fate.“
At the same time that he said this, he saw the ship above. If answers did not lie within this thief, surely they would be in there. “Perhaps, I may spare you regardless, but that would be much more guaranteed if you tell me now,“ he said coldly, his eyes lowering again to stare at Asuzo. It would be significantly easier to get it out of this man than to infiltrate the entire ship, he thought. However, what needed to be done, would be done in the end.

Watching the ongoing drama between Azuso and the ice-person, Kalis was somewhat unprepared for the slight tinge of jealousy at the sight of the fool mercenary about to be killed by someone else.
With a resigned sigh, he lifted a hand, a small puff of flames rising from his palm, leaving a confused looking imp hovering in front of him. He whispered his instructions to it.

On rapid wingbeats, the imp floated down to Kirisar, almost directly above Azuso, and intoned in a squeaky voice:
“My master bids me to give you this message."
It pointed a finger at the ice-sword-manacle about Azuso’s neck. A bolt of dark flames streaked from finger to ice, shattering the weapon and the mercenary’s prison.
“None but he is allowed to kill this pathetic whelp."
Before either of them could react, it disappeared in a rather volumous puff of smoke that almost immediately engulfed and seemingly adhered to Kirisar’s head, giving Azuso both the advantage and the initiative.

As the sword shattered, the splinters immediately spread, duplicated and formed into a reactive crystal barrier, protecting Kirisar from the mist and any sort of counter-attack from Asuzo. Still visible behind the ice shield, a cold look of anger shot toward the origin of the imp at Kalis. His red eyes faded into an icy blue, and his hair into a snowy white as he looked up at the ship. The barrier in front of him formed and wrapped around the mist that was formerly an imp, permanently entrapping it and letting it fall to the ground in a thud.
Raising his right hand skyward, his arm instantly became encased in a sort of ice claw that freely moved with his fingers, albeit some chipping occurred in the process. Stretching the fingers on this claw slightly, it suddenly flew forward from his arm, remaining connected to his real arm by a make-shift arm of ice. As it closed toward the ship, it grew immensely in size until it’s width alone was enough to cover nearly half the ship. Once the claw made contact with the ship’s hull, the entire vessel began to be covered in a layer of ice. As the ice spread, the claw itself dug into the hull and began viciously pulling it downwards toward the ground. If the entire ship did not fall, it would surely rip it in half and carry half of it to the ground instead, surely making travel much more difficult.
As he tried to bring the ship down, his focus on Azuso was distracted slightly; he didn’t care much for the bandit any longer, but his senses still kept somewhat of an eye on him to make sure he wouldn’t try and sort of trickery.

A great crack rolled across the clearing as the lightning blazed anew, ripping the ice apart even as it made contact. Kalis cocked his head to one side.
“You really think I’d use this thing for extractions if it was that easy to bring it down? I’m afraid you’ll have to do much better than that," he looked at the distance to the portal, “and you’ll have to do it sometime in the next five, four..."

(OOC: Is your character, and everything to do with your character, completely untouchable or something? Seriously, “minor dark magic” can break major elemental control, and now this? Is your character that bloody high above everyone else that he can just rapestomp everyone to his own will? Christ there’s no point in this if you’re just going to say “Oh, I win” and there’s nothing we can do about it, story be damned after all.)

(OOC: “and everything to do with your character." I’m assuming that mage has something to do with your character since you’re playing him. That’s still not the point, it’s a damn story, and this isn’t turning out to be a story, this is turning out to be butchery. Your character is pretty much demonstrating that he’s completely untouchable because he can just summon some big-assed creature (since an imp that can break elemental control is easy) to kill everything. What’s honestly going on in your head? Are you thinking that, because your character is from someplace else he’s above everything, either by himself or through supporting characters?)

My intentions were to not have some sort of butchery like this...I guess my two main mistakes were getting rid of the posting order, which made half the posters leave, and having people from other continents, which just opens the door to overpower-ness.
Honestly I’m probably going to redo it on a different forum, keep it stuck to the continent, have powers more clearly outlined, and toss this one as a rough draft. On the bright side I at least got my original ideas out of it for my main character.
It’s just turned into bloody butchery. Boo’s making a short story without interacting with other characters from other people and everyone else seems solely intent on fighting one another.
Yes, I’m probably sounding like a whiny bitch - it was my fuck-ups anyway - but when I look at the first post in comparison, this is certainly not the quality I intended, nor the quality that should even exist considering.
So, honestly, if you really want to roleplay, make your own stuff. This has just gone way too off-track for me to salvage at this point - characters more powerful than the entire continent, someone making a good story but isn’t interacting with others, and the whole focus seems to have shifted from a story to whoever has the better magic rules the world.
