This happens to me once in a while. Youtube loads extremely slow for about two days, then it fixes itself.

This case, however, it’s been over a week. My internet connection is fine. Steady 4mbps connection (speedtest.net). All pages load perfectly fine, images load fast, everything. The Youtube page loads fast aswell, but can’t say the same about the videos. A 1minute video can take up to 5min to completely load up. I also noticed other video sites like Metacafe take alot to load aswell.

Anyways, was just wondering if you had any ideas. I removed and re-installed Flash and Java (just in case) and still nothing. I’ve reset my router, disconnected my ethernet cable, everything I could think of and nothing.

Also, I tried using Chrome and IE. Same problem. I use FF. Tried clearing browing history aswell. Nothing. Also tried Youtube on my dad’s computer and sister’s computer and it works perfectly with theirs.

Any ideas? Help me out.

This answer thread is full of fail.

Changing browser won’t effect youtube load speeds, and nor will reinstalling windows (!).

Youtube has been painfully slow for a couple of days for me too, and I have experienced it a few of times before.

My guess would be Youtube every so often throttle bandwidth in some areas for some reason, maybe when they are doing maintenance. Or I spose it could be the ISP using traffic shaping to limit youtube downloads, but that seems less likely.

Luckily, it always seem to come back up to speed after not too long. Fingers crossed.

Nothing you can do about it. Chances are it has to do with their servers and the amount of people connected to their servers.

Well, it’s always likely that if youtube is slow but no other sites are, then it’s their bandwidth (it’s really the most popular video site ever). Although, I haven’t had any problems.

However, it could be your computer’s performance too, especially since they’ve been upping their video quality. If your computer is bogged by cookies, spyware, or hasn’t been cleaned up a bit or turned off for awhile, it could be affecting performance of video playback.

I mean, I run a 8mb/s connection (I better be at least, it’s what I’m paying for) and I have no issues whatsoever today or yesterday on a 54mb/s wireless connection from my router, and I’ve watched HD videos with no pausing for buffering or loading.

I always recommend CCleaner and Spybot S&D.

Update: It’s a problem with ALL videos. Every single video I try to watch is very slow. Streaming or buffering. Metacafe, Youtube, Veoh... every single site.

Then it’s probably something bogging down either your bandwidth or you system’s resources.
