I seriously avoid politics half the time, because ....of other things..
but this one seems so...blatant..I decided to make a topic.
As you might be aware, next Tuesday, Obama is planning on addressing students in schools. It’s a message to try to convince them to stay in school. I’m SURE this comes after the last high schol dropout ratings report.
Anyway, these are just a few articles covering it, I pulled from google news. There’s many more, so...
-a comment from THIS article that actually made me a little ticked, if it’s true.
a teacher commenting in the WP article wrote:
I am a public educator; I teach high school in northern Virginia. I was surprised when I received an email from our principal telling us not to show the president’s “back to school” speech live because of broadband issues, but it really didn’t concern me as I wasn’t planning on showing it during my class anyway. Today I became suspicious when we received another building-wide email forbidding anyone to show the video without submitting plans to the administration showing how the video tied into the curriculum and lesson plans. We were also told that we need to let parents know when we were to show the video and to provide an “opt out” plan for students not allowed to view the speech. This is really scary to me! Heaven forbid that we would want to watch OUR president presenting our students with a positive message concerning education!
>_> I suppose, hence this is a dose of reality

As for his speech- I actually think he is a good speaker, but...I’ll be in college.....and college lecture halls don’t have TVs.. otherwise, i bet it’d be aired.
I simply think that he is right in his opinion that the dropout rates need to decrease... But ...of course that’s just me.

Personally I’m tired of being beaten in math and geography by other countries.

i’m a bit tired and worried of the fact that if i do choose to graduate with a Physics Major, that there’s so much foreign competition, etc,etc..and that the lack of focus on serious science such as returning to the moon, Fusion power, etcetc, will come back to haunt us

No it is not. Obama does not deserve to least of all, tell our kids to stay in school. I choose what they learn, always. Not to mention he is not our President, but a Muslim terrorist.
Former Governer Palin someone born in the US, would most deserve to speak to kids. I have heard that the teachers in my kids school will be replaying the speech, so unless i hear otherwise I will keep my kids out of school this week because they do not need to hear anything Obama says. That way when they grow up they will not question what i Have taught them about the real world.
Stay in school? My kids do not need to hear that. I will teach them what I MYSELF consider appropriate throughout life. This is the reason I will not vote for Obama next election.
TO the Mask, would you prefer te United States being a sociolist and Communist run state? I thought not.
To Tippership Commander- you are an example of a big mistake. Going to space is not important one bit when the money needs to be spent on Earth. God gave us this planet for all our needs. Fusion power? Why would anyone but madmen try to make power supposedly from something that we have no business messing with? The adage goes that if you play with fire you get burned.
To Geass= When you have kids you will then realize that they need to be taught by their parents only so they will not come home and question the true things that parenting has instilled. Then again all of you are young and dumb and have no clue about the real world.

This further evidences my case as no one can address me correctly without resorting to insults. Case proven.
