I’m going to be straightforward. I want you to try and convince me that god(s) exists.

However, you can’t use scripture as your argument.

Well theists... bring it on

Well, It’s more believable that there is a God that created this world other than some science theory. If it was science. It would be one hell of a coincidence that it also happened to create everything we need to live off of.

I disagree. Creationism raises a bigger question than it answers: who created god?

matt, ok, you should know as well as i do that it won’t work like that. you don’t want to believe, and you will find an issue with anything we say. you can’t just sit down and convince someone of a lifestyle. its ridiculous to think that that is possible. it think it would be almost impossible to do it online at all. the last three words tell me that your going to take this as a challenge. your not going to listen to what we say, your going to try to find fault in it.

hope you get this. i’m not trying to be mean or anything, but really, this is simply unrealistic.

but, still...i guess this opens up something that i have been wanting to ask you. something that was bothering me a bit back...according to the athiest belief, when you die, its all over. there is just nothingness. you cease to exist. i get that, sorta. i mean, i can’t possibly imagine it, but that is understandable. i understand the concept. what i don’t understand is how you can deal with that. i mean, it all sounds great in theory, but a bit ago i started thinking about it, and it made it onto my top 5 greatest fears. if you die, and there is just nothingness. everything that you ever stood for, ever thought, ever fought for, ever loved, if it was like it never was. you just stop. you get to be right, but you never get to know that you were. everything that you were, not being it. everything stopping. running out of time to do anything. honestly sit down and picture that for a second. how can you deal with that without...well, loosing it?

but, also, this isn’t anything to base a belief off of. christianity isn’t about being scared into believing. thats just wrong. thats why i hate all those pricks walking around with signs saying shit like 'repent or burn!'

God has always been among this world. Thats the only possible way all of this universe was made. An earth, people, food, resources, they dont just appear out of thin air. Someone had to of been there to create it.

i have to say this. if that is a question, then so must be this: where did the initial materials for the big bang come from? i don’t want something like 'from an old universe'. i want to know the origin.

If that was true, don’t you think there would be people all over the world saying that they have died and came back to life? But...theres rarely anyone saying that have died and came back.

well, i personally believe that God isn’t bound by things like time. he literally lives out side of it. call it annother dimension or whatever you will, but that is what i believe.

Kev - I know your obviously suspicious at me, but that’s understandable. I’m just curious to see if there are any arguments worthwhile.

And no, I’m not afraid of death. What’s there to be afraid of? When you die you die. You may think that if there is no afterlife that this life is worthless, right? Well it’s not. We are grossly lucky to be here, you should be glad that your going to die. There are trillions of people who don’t get to die because they were never born. Who do you think values life more: someone who believes there will be another life, or someone who believes this is the only life they’lle get? Most likely the person who doesn’t believe in the afterlife. Believing this, you can make life more worthwhile. You don’t live to be tested to live again, that would be pointless and not to mention redundant. This life isn’t something to be endured, it’s something to take advantage of.

Besides, who would want eternal life anyway? Existing forever, whether in Heaven or hell, would still be hell for me. I can’t imagine having to endure living forever.

You can make that go on forever, if there was something before God, then there would of had been something before whatever was before God, in your theory anyways.

exactly that’s what I’m saying that fucking blows my mind I can understand infinity from right now going forward but I can’t comprehend infinity going backwards

thats just the thing. even if we beat you in an arguement, and i mean really spank you like a bitch, would you honestly believe even then? i know i wouldn’t. believe is more then it being possible, likely, whatever.

yes, i recognize that, but i still can’t handle a lack of existance. you wouldn’t even be able to register that you are lucky. just...nothing. i realised that i want to exist. i want to keep being. the thought of that stopping is just...i don’t know. maybe we are just different. and, i agree entirely that life should be taken advantage of and lived to the fullest. i honestly feel that my religion helps me do that, but at the same time, thats very hard to describe. i’ll give it a shot...things like church. i honestly look forward to going there. a lot of it is how many good friends i have there, but more over, its something...i don’t really know how to describe it, and i’m sure if i tried i would sound crazy, so lets just leave that one for now...oh, and, more then trillions. a literally infinite amount.

in a life without sorrow, without pain, without suffering? i could deal with that. lol.

i have to say this. if that is a question, then so must be this: where did the initial materials for the big bang come from? i don’t want something like 'from an old universe'. i want to know the origin.

Scientists are still working on that. A theory that is widely accepted throughout the scientific community is that since infinity is physically impossible, you would not be able to have material, come from material, come from material, etc. That would be infinite. So what scientists are theorizing is that the universe must have had a finite beginning.

And I know what your probably thinking. “How is that any different from god?". Well, the difference is that science has been carefully thought out through this. There is much more to it than what I just said. Scientists such as Stephen Hawking have worked in this field before and I have to say, it’s not easy.

But, consider this. Lets say the universe had a finite beginning. That would mean something had to have spontaneously come into existence, right? This is where chance comes in. Take the big bang; all the matter in the universe was once contracted very small. For the big bang, that means the material had to of spontaneously come into existence. The material itself is pretty simple, it wasn’t until after it expanded that matter combined and over billions of years eventually formed space clouds that formed stars, planets, etc.

Now, take god. A deity that has the ability to do anything, knows everything there ever will be to know, controls everything, and has a conscious. I would say that god is very complex.

Now what do you think would have a better chance of spontaneously coming into existence; matter which is not complex at all, or something as complex as god?

spontaneous matter coming out of no where is ridiculous by all scientific measures. at least, all common ones. so, that being said, you can safely say it throws normal logic out the window, meaning it could very well be complex.

also something i would ask, if nothing is infinite, then does that mean everything will one day cease to exist? and, moreover, everything that we know is finite. a deity of any kind, none the less the God of christianity, which makes pretty much every roman and egyptain god look like a pansy power wise, is obviously like nothing we know. just think for a second...assume God is real. this super deity, if you will. who’s to say that he is bound by the same laws we are?

oh, btw, i love this. lol. half this stuff i’m thinking of almost as i write. i don’t know if i have heard it around or what.

fucky-ya, see my first post here. if i get him at least thinking a little, i will be very surprised, and very happy.
