Where in the Bible does it directly say smoking or suicide is a sin?
Smoking is no sin, but I am sure somewhere in the bible it says that suicide is a sin, I mean, back in the middle ages, people who commited suicide did not get funerals.

Christianity of the Middle Ages was full of hypocrisy and straying from the teachings of the Bible.

So answer me this, since if you commit suicide in the bibles eyes you cannot go to Heaven as Suicide is a sin. Instead you got to purgatory.
Christians I ask you, since smokers can kill themsleves with their addiction do smokers who die of smoking related causes go to heaven?
smoking dose not make you a bad person. PPL smoke cos it makes them feel better not to kill them self. It just is that it dose kill them. I mean years ago it was told that smoking was good for you cos it relaxed you.
first off, i think this question is born from ignorance of the bible...according to the christian religion (and reality), everyone sins (romans 3:23: “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." ). so, by your logic, heaven will be completely empty. no one will be there. everyone will be in hell because everyone has sinned, be it just a white lie, or be it murder. everyone has done something wrong.
thats where the significance of the religion comes in. through jesus’s blood, God can ignore this sin, and can view us as perfect, even though we aren’t (john 3:16: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.)
so, whether or not smoking is a sin is pretty irrelevant. either way, you can get to heaven. is smoking a sin? thats something else altogether. i guess under your logic of it being self destructive, yeah, it probably would be a sin. ((1 Corinthians 6:19-20 NIV) “[19] Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own; [20] you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body." );(1 Corinthians 3:16-17 NIV) [16] “Don’t you know that you yourselves are God’s temple and that God’s Spirit lives in you? [17] If anyone destroys God’s temple, God will destroy him; for God&'s temple is sacred, and you are that temple." ))
second, sean, you have to remember what you are quoting. revelations is freaking trippy. its half metaphors. probably more then half. and, it really isn’t clear what they are talking about when they mention the 144,000. but, it does imply that they are blameless, which implies that they are something special. but, it never mentions them being the only ones who are being saved.
*steps back and watches as athiests come to tear this thread apart.*
Well I can’t cite you an exact quote from the Bible, but I do know taking your own life will not get you into heaven. Suicide is looked down upon. So if their god sees that as a suicide then well your not going.
kev360- well maybe heaven will be empty. Given the rules your god has given, it has been almost impossible for anyone to follow. Who’s to say a large group of people will go to heaven. More than likely it’ll be a very very small minority. As someone said earlier time has distorted the religion into thinking that you can commit any sin but then just repent and you’ll be fine. Or some think just believing will let you go. In reality, the religion suggest you have to dedicate your life to god and live by his word. Otherwise you don’t go. Given today’s world, I doubt many will go.

Well technically it is a sin because in the bible it says something about your body is God’s temple so you’re not suppose to do anything that harms it like smoking or getting tattoos but a better question would be would obese people go to hell since they are harming there bodies as well by being so unhealthy that could potentially kill them as well.

according to the logic that all sinners go to hell, yes, heaven would be empty. the bible even says that. did you even read what i was saying? lol i’m just saying, according to the bible how it is written, that is how it is. if you want to get into the bible being some sort of perversion on what it used to be, take it somewhere else. i’m not interested.
