Yea, I know I use to be closed minded to, thinking anyone who didn’t believe in a spherical earth where morons. I refused to listen to any other “idea” on a flat earth, or a square planet. Are you kidding me? Things like these are not opinions; belief in gravity does not make you close minded. Go watch the video again.

Camp A : Science Minded, those who use only logic and critically think about things.
Camp B : Religious Minded, those who disregard logic and blindly accept what they are told.

It’s a classification system that I have run into on almost every site that debates things as deeply conflicted as religion and science. The problem is that these are not the only groups out there:

Camp C : You also have those who are “Science Minded” in that they blindly accept everything told to them in school without bothering to do any sort of research. This group has a tenancy to simply puppet information that they heard in school, something that becomes increasingly evident as they grow older and the perception of reality by the standards of the Scientific Community change, while they continue to spout idea’s that have long since been debunked or are far too outdated.

Camp D : Then you have Deists who spend the time to research and analyze there belief system, finding facts both for and against it and weighing them against on another. This group has a tenancy to take in conflicting facts and either rationalize them along side there own personal beliefs or take them into consideration for changing there belief system.

What’s sad is that I personally know people from all of these groups:

Camp A : Gplex, you seem to fall into this category.
Camp B : Sadly enough, my best friend fits this almost to the letter.
Camp C : A girl in my English class named Sam fit into this category and it irked me to death the foolish things she would say on an almost daily basis.
Camp D : My brother most definitely fits into this column.

Most people are not strictly one “camp”. People today are quite logical and reason very well through daily activity and life, except when it comes to their religious beliefs.
With me, I find sometimes when I’m doing a physics experiment, when something doesn’t “feel” right, it’s usually best to go over and check everything I have predicted, and laded out.
I use to be part of camp B, D and C – in that order - believe it or not.

So I assume you would jump off a building, because someone believes that if you do, you will turn into superman. Your own logic would prevent you from criticizing this belief, before you try it. Please watch the video.

I’d have to say by the classifications presented, I’m an A. I have the misfortune to live in a family of Bs.

i think you missed my point... i meant try as in learn, which doesn’t mean participate in religious events(unless i feel comfortable) which seems you do, as you seem to know a lot about the muslim faith, which in a way makes you and me to both have open minds
i was never trying to argue with you or anything, i just want to see what you would consider a open minded person

I just wanted you to understand that being critical of and idea or belief, does not make you closed minded.

Everyone should have an open mind, be it someone from Camp A, B, C, or D, as going by what King said.

I frankly get tired of the closed-minded atheists I’ve met as well as the closed-minded Christians. But it doesn’t stop there. Closed-minded vegetarians, closed-minded hobbyists, closed-minded elitists, and I could go on.

It’s everywhere.

I kind of wish I live where Gplex did, where everyone seems to be logical, because damn, that’s uncommon where I live. People are driven by things such as pride, anger, hate, tradition, or authority. The logical are hated and few.

But still, if I ever tell an atheist they seem to be closed-minded, be damn sure I told the same thing to my own Christian mother. And to be honest, in my experiences, Christians are worse than atheists.

It’s a good video.

And funny when the cartoon dude asks the lady for supporting facts for how her day was.

I’m open minded in a way for example.

My Friend Samantha called me to say that her lawn got yard of the month I immediately hang up because I didn’t give a shit.

Why?
Well I had no way of knowing that her lawn won two she called me to say her lawn won obviously she wasn’t emotionally stable, three who gives shit about a lawn?

I suppose, but to paint with a broad brush (something that video you posted seems to do very excellently by setting up straw men, etc), those are the categories that all people fall into.

I don’t recall saying everyone here is logical.. a lot of people are not.

Well personally, I think being opened minded, and relying on physical evidence, and reasoned logic to tell me the truth is far from bullshit, I’m sorry you disagree.

I don’t understand. Can you give a example of this straw men setup?
I was just saying that people can fall into multiply “camps”.

As far as Sean goes, it sounds like he’s remarking on your apparent “promoting atheism/demoting theism” idea that’s been going on for a very long time. That being if I were to try and look at it solely from his point of view.
Mask, he’s just trying to make fun of it.

And as far as the topic goes, I’d have to suppose I don’t, believing in things like the soul and God without a reasonable amount of factual proof. (just so I’m not going off-topic)

Because you called me an idiot by thinly disguising it by saying " Well personally, I think being opened minded, and relying on physical evidence, and reasoned logic to tell me the truth is far from bullshit, I’m sorry you disagree. "

That hurts what ever is left of my “soul”.
