I used to be a Christian. But there have been way too many unanswered prayers.
I guess if there is a God, he must hate me.
Does not believing in God make you happy?
Nope. Because my father is a preacher. Hardcore Christian like person. If I ever said that I didn’t believe that God exist I’d get a 3 hour lecture and forced into church. ---

Well, it’s great that you’re questioning your beliefs and asking questions...I just hope you’re doing it for the right reasons (and be damned if I know what those are). ---

I was never big on religion. I was more or less forced to follow it when I was younger. But now, I just don’t care.
I guess it’s.. For the most part, a kind of crappy life and depression that’s made me turn away from religion. Plus, I kinda always held a belief that “good people” go to heaven anyway, whether they believe in God or not.
I think the idea that God would punish the kindest and most selfless person in the world to an eternity of pain and suffering just because he didn’t believe is stupid. ---

I’m sorry you feel that way.
I’m just being selfish right now. And my father’s constant religious babble is really getting to become a bother. ---

I could see how frustrating that would be. And I know so many young adults who had to grow up in similar households. You feel like you’re living a lie and only when you finally leave the house do you feel that you’ve actually got some real religious freedom. But even then, to keep things cordial with the fam the “god-lessness” is kept on the down low.
Try to grab some positives from it though if you can. If not, well, screw it then ---

Ha, well, I don’t know if I’ve ever heard of someone being both ...but they’re just labels anyway, the words themselfs don’t actually describe what you believe. ---

lol. When I move out.. I’m not going to pretend I’m something I’m not just to keep my parents to like me.
I don’t really care enough about what they think. I’ve already decided that as soon as I graduate I’m out. ---

Well, I don’t know anything about your home life, but we may find the space and time will give you a slightly different relationship with your parents.
(anyway...follow me into the 'what’s up now' thread) ---

The Great Journey is a lie. It’s just a last resort against the Flood, to save all life in the area, by killing it before the Flood does. ---

the guy who doesnt accept jerks Guest | My thoughts on religion:
My mom goes to Protestant church.
My dad doesn’t.
I enjoy reading about the Mayan Calendar and how it connects to all religions in one way or another.
Jesus is questionable to me.
Could we all be jesus in a way?
If god came down as a man, wouldn’t he be flawed just like us all?
I think that sin is real.
I don’t know about heaven or hell.
I’d like to think we experience both at the same time.
I know near to nothing about Muhammed (I spelled that wrong)
but any radical of any religion scares me
Muslim radicals have been used as propaganda
beliefs can push people to do things they know in their heart are wrong
I like the idea of a Cosmic Serpent that represents DNA... think about how many times snakes are symbolized... look at an ambulance... the mexican flag... DNA looks like a serpent... new hampshire’s flag...
I think DNA is proof that god exists
the more you know about it the more that makes sense
how perfectly aligned everything is
how delicate the balance of everything is
how hard it is to do things right
doing good is really hard for some people (like me)
drugs sex can KILL YOU!
SIN CAN KILL YOU!!!!
so don’t do a lot of it
everyone will sin every once and a while
its hard not to
I don’t even know what they all are
I can’t even list the ten commandments
Moses learned them from a burning bush
what kind of burning bush?
I like to think it was weed
hahah
I love god and I try to speak to him sometimes
I think he can hear me better sometimes better than others
I need to practice and make my voice stronger
haha
o man
my beliefs are what I’ve experienced and not what people have told me to think
making up my own mind is important to me | |
