You do not have to be Christian to have belief. There are various other religions that also believe in the one God, if that is what you mean. however, the main point of all religions is to live a good life and be a good person. And, the true God is summarized in one word LOVE. You can believe however you want, as long as you come back to Love your neighbours as yourself.
Hey man go with whatever feels right. I mean I’ve been a christian my whole life but unlike a lot of people I chose to be because it just felt right to me. I mean shit man you shouldn’t let other people influence you too much I mean don’t shut the opinions of others out but at least think good and hard about it you know. Like me for instance it wouldn’t be too hard for me to believe that in the thousands of years that the Bible has been around that somewhere along the way someone could have changed things here and there but you know take the good with the bad. As for “fitting in” I don’t honestly think that people care that much I mean I personally like to stay out of matters such as religion for the most part because I doubt that anything I say would change anyone’s point of view but I have a few atheist friends and we get along just fine because we realize that it’s a touchy subject and we put our respect for each other above that. I guess what I’m trying to say man is it’s okay to be unsure of certain things especially things like this because it’s a pretty big decision but hey man do whatever it is you wanna do whatever feels right to you just go with it and if you still need time to think than just take the time shit it took me quite a few years to decide to be a christian but I did. Hell who says you have to be either I have my own views on Christianity that I express openly.

Oops contradicted myself there I meant to say that I’ve believed in God my whole life but I haven’t always necessarily been a Christian. I’m very nitpicky like that

It makes more sense to be atheist, but I’m not sure if I want to go that direction...
I’m also not sure if I just want to be atheist to better “fit-in” with people. At the same time, I don’t want to risk religion bogging me down.
Oh, the dilemma.
fit in with who? the people on the interwebz? who cares
That is probably one of the smartest things you’ve said. Though I’d say, wanting to fit in with any group by believing the same as they do is stupid too.
No you can’t. You HAVE to be a theist or an atheist. You have to believe or you don’t. There is NO other option. Agnosticism as it’s defined means you wouldn’t have a belief in God either. In the neutral way anyway. You can’t just “not be anything”

Yes you do. YOU DO have to. You HAVE to be theist or atheist. There is no way around it. If you hold no religion but still believe in a God you’re a theist, if you don’t believe in God and hold a religion you’re an atheist, or pretty much any combination of those. You HAVE to be one. Even if you “Don’t know if there is a God or not”

Go with what you really believe, whether it’s common or not. In the end, going with a belief just to fit in is lying to yourself, but so is going against a belief you actually agree with just to be a non conformist.
And if you’re not sure, you’re not sure. Take some time off to think about it. Your beliefs can change later on anyway, so don’t be afraid to consider new ideas.

I mean what I say. I may not want to have disbelief.
I may really be more of an agnostic or a deist than anything anyway.
Atheism isn’t a commitment to disbelief. You can be atheist and still remain open to the concept of theism, even if you’re not currently convinced by it. This is called weak atheism, and many people confuse it with agnosticism, which is the belief that God’s existence is completely unknowable. Strong atheism is the position where one openly denies the existence of all gods, being completely certain that theism is untrue.
In addition to that, agnostics can also be atheist agnostics or theist agnostics. Which basically means that, although though they think they will never know whether God exists or not, they believe/disbelieve anyway.

Oh, the dilemma.
You should look at deism.

Go with what makes most sense to you.A belief is not just something you make up like some people take little bits of different religions which is making up a belief which is just illogical. You believe a belief to be true, don’t make it up. You should try different religions and go with which feels most right and makes most sense.(For example you may dislike Judaism because you might think that it would make god bias.)Also, listen to others reasoning,it might change your mind.
