No offense taken smiley. I guess that’s why I’m more of a “druidic path” merged with Celtic reconstructionism. I don’t trust any pagan path or group (at least ones that use Celtic traditions) that claim to follow “ancient” traditions. The greater part of Celtic religious knowledge is completely lost to us.

There have been a few things passed down through folklore and other sources, but it’s very much like trying to put together a puzzle where a lot of pieces are missing.

well, I get that, but some people are like” This ritual is neo norse, this one is celtic, this one is sumerian blah blublah blublah”

I completely get what you’re saying, and actually, that isnt a bad philosophy.

And, Ive been meaning to do this for a while, sorry for being a jackass when I was just starting out as a memnber.

Nah most “rituals” are modern - maybe based on a few older traditions, but it’s difficult to know the origin. We really don’t have sufficient information to show how they conducted religious ceremonies in Celtic cultures, except, again maybe a few bits of information from folklore.

We have a few writings from Greek and Roman sources, but as those writings have proved unreliable on other topics, it’s not possible to know if they correctly portrayed religious rites.

There’s nothing wrong with practicing modern rituals to express and connect with ideas that are far older, but it’s just good to have as much information as possible about what you’re doing.

Anyhow, speaking of this - there’s an event going on at the university that I want to attend, and I’d better get going smiley.

Yeah no offense to anyone, but I think Wicca is complete fucking bullshit... basically for the same reasons that Fucky69 stated.

Only I like the Druidic and Celtic stuff as a culture, just because its interesting, but as a religion, blehh...

Have you even studied anything about them, or are you making this comment purely on rumours you’ve heard?

...Adding another person to the total of those who make ignorant statements based on absolutely no knowledge.

I don’t necessarily agree with parts of Wicca. But I have respect for those who choose to practice it. And I also make sure I’m informed on a subject before making a statement about it wink. And if I DO make a statement, I make sure I back it up with something.

(*cough* funny thing is if someone went and made the statement “Christianity is crap” I would be getting multiple reports right now)

I’ve read up on Wicca. I don’t make ignorant statement very often. And I actually do think its crap.

I’m basing that on the fact that you’ve made a blanket statement without anything to actually back you up.

I’d also like to remind you about this rule on the forums:

“Debate is welcome, even heated debates, ie. about religion; but you have no right, or permission, to post inflamatory or clearly rediculous allegations against certain religons etc.“

You are more than welcome to debate, take issue with, etc. certain religions, but please refrain from making derogatory comments.

You have no idea how hard is for me to NOT say: I HATE WICCA. I THINK WITCHES SHOULD BE BURNED.
I take that back.

“I hate wicca, and I think that witches should be burned."

Thats a load off. *realizes impending doom* *shrugs*
