The axis of symmetry is what X equals at the vertex. I.E. if the vertex is (1,5) the axis of symmetry is x=1

bump and here it is:
just wondering how to write it in standard form, we have to solve it the way it is and then right it in standard form i know its useless but teachers orders:
y=(x-3)^2

and how do you also write this one:
f(x)=-(x+3)^2 + 5

Standard form:

Ax^2+Bx+C=Y

Just follow that format.

First one:

Y=X^2-6X+9

Second one:

Y=-(X^2+6X+9)+5

Y=-X^2-6X-4

let me try:
y=(x-3)^2
y=(x-3)(x-3)
y=x^2-3x-3x+9
y=x^2-6x+9?

and for the second one:
y=-(x+3)^2+5
y=-(x+3)(x+3)+5
y=-x^2-3x-3x-9+5
y=-x^2-6x-4?

did i do it right?
