Different schooling systems

As everyone may guess, different countries have different schooling systems. Can someone post how it goes in their country? (I’m particularly interested in the ones in Australia, UK, and Germany). Here’s the few I know:

USA:
Elementary School: grades 1-6 (primary)
Middle School: grades 7-8 (formerly Junior High: grades 6-8, sometimes 6-9)
High School: grades 9-12 (secondary)
Post-secondary:
College (2 years)
University (undergraduate): (4 years) -> Bachelor’s Degree
Note: you can do first 2 years in college, and last 2 at university (to save money); or you can do all 4 years at university)
Then post-graduate stuff at University -> Master’s Degree or Ph.D

Vacations in USA are mostly summer (2 1/2 months). A few much shorter vacations are also scattered throughout the year (Xmas/New Year’s (about 1 week), Spring Break (usually 1 week); the rest are mostly 1-day or long weekends).

I believe in Germany and Canada they have 13 grades instead of the 12 in most other countries.

France:
Ecole primaire: 1-5 (primary)
Collège: 6-8
Lycée: 9-12
They used to have numbers in reverse. 1st grade was 11ème (“11th”, 11th grade was 1ère (“1st”, and 12th grade was 'Terminale'. They gave up the numbers for lower courses (instead using fancy names and acronyms), but still use 6ème to Terminale for higher grades.
1st grade: Cours Préparatoire (CP) (Preparatory Course)
2nd grade: Cours Elémentaire 1ère Année (CE1) (Elementary Course year 1)
3rd grade: Cours Elémentaire 2ème Année (CE2) (Elementary Course year 2)
4th grade: Cours Moyen 1ère Année (CM1) (Middle Course year 1)
5th grade: Cours Moyen 2ème Année (CM2) (Middle Course year 2)
I’m not sure how it goes post-secondary.

Elementary School: K-5
Middle School: 6-8
High School: 9-12
College: 2 years (Associates Degree) to 4 years (Bachelor’s Degree)
Grad School: Any additional schooling after getting a Bachelor’s Degree

The USA’s schooling system seriously needs some improvement.

Mexico’s schooling system is like this

Kinder Garden- 1-2 years
Elementary(here they call it primary) - 1-6
Middle School (here they called secondary) - 1-3 (7-9)
High School (there’s 2 kinds of high-school) 1-6 (semesters)
-tech high school (I go to this one)
-social high school
College - 2
Univertity or Tech School 5 years

Vacations-
elementary and middle school get the same as in the USA
but high school gets december and january (winter break)
same spring break and u leave for summer vacations in the beggining of june and u comeback 2 weeks before september

Right, In Australia, it goes as thus.

age 1-3 Preschool (optional)
age 4-5 Kindergarten (compulsory)
age 5-8 Junior primary School (grades reception or 0 than 1 & 2) (compulsory)
age 8-13 Primary School (grades 3-7) (compulsory)
age 13-16 Junior Highschool (grades 8-10) (compulsory)
age 16-18 Senior Highschool (grades 11-12) (11 is compulsory unless guardian permits withdrawal from schooling system and year 12 is optional but encouraged)

Aside from that, we have Collages which allow students to study certificate or diploma courses which can be enrolled in anywhere from yrs 11 onwards and Universities which allow students to earn diplomas and degrees in specialized fields such as psychology, teaching, medicine, law and all the usual stuff.

University studies are usually undertaken once yr 12 is completed. Students who have dropped out before completing yr 12 can sit a entrance exam or do a bridging course to the equivalence of 1 yrs study to become enrolled in University study.

oh, vacations but we call them holidays occur every 2.5 months for 2 weeks each with a extra week off for easter. We also have 4 weeks off starting 20th December for Christmas holidays which replace on of the 2 week holidays.

Our school year goes from 23 January till the 20th of December. University students years start later in February 18th and go right through till November 30th. They also get a periodic 2 week semester break every 2 or so months.
