What exactly is involved in the paper? What kind of sources are you supposed to use? Does it all have to be dry historical facts or can you use newspaper articles from the time and/or human experience stories in your contrast and comparison?
If you’re allowed to use actual stories and/or news stories I think contrasting the great depression with the current economic climate would be interesting.

No I didn’t mean “opinions”. I meant historic writings from the time - people’s accounts of what was happening, news accounts of what was happening. It still falls under the category of historical evidence for how people actually lived in that time. That could be interwoven with the basic historical facts.
For example, you state that something occurred in the depression or some characteristic of the depression is similar today. You can pull in quotes from news stories at that time, and compare them to news stories from now.
What I meant by “hard facts” was are you limited to “this happened on this date and this happened on this date” etc.
