If you’re allowed to use actual stories and/or news stories I think contrasting the great depression with the current economic climate would be interesting.

it needs to be mainly hard facts....
but it can have some opinions....but it can’t be based off of them...or i’d BS my way threw this paper...and i’d be done! grin

and i don’t really need any more ideas...
but if you got any i won’t complain! grin

No I didn’t mean “opinions”. I meant historic writings from the time - people’s accounts of what was happening, news accounts of what was happening. It still falls under the category of historical evidence for how people actually lived in that time. That could be interwoven with the basic historical facts.

What I meant by “hard facts” was are you limited to “this happened on this date and this happened on this date” etc.

no...but i have to site the resource....and that is a pain in the but....

That’s not tough. You just have to know the format for how to cite things. Whatever topic you choose if you decide to pull in resources I could show you where to get info. about citations.

This could be helpful:

Well whatever you decide to do with your topic, do you need help getting sources, or is it more help with formatting references?

I think that happens to everyone. I think you’ve been given some really good topics and could work with any of them. You could easily compare the general paranoia of the cold war to the paranoia about Muslims today. The depression one would work too.

Oh and my idea about getting news articles from the depression...maybe not so feasible (or would take more time than you have). But I’ve come across several modern news stories that actually compare this current economic crisis to specific things about the depression.

I think first you might want to pick your subject, then pick what you want to talk about with regards to that subject. E.g. if you want to argue that today’s crisis has similarities to the depression, but isn’t so severe etc.
