can follow this?

prove:
tan(x)[sin(x)+cot(x)cos(x)]= sec (x)

so...

[sin^2(x)]/cos(x) + cox (x)

so....

[sin^2(x) + cos^2(x)]/cox(x)

so...

1/cos(x)

so....

sec(x) = sec(x)

so..who’s learned this stuff? just a curiosity question. want to see where you guys are at. this is the question i just finished. got 16 like this. its like...a proofs older brother from hell, back with A VENGEANCE!

I did. It wasn’t that difficult. In fact, I found it fun. Much better than Geometry proof shit.

lol, it is fun, if you know what you’re doing. like, really. its like, this is a really fun assignment, until i get stuck. then, suddenly it becomes a little piece of hell.

and, the calculator thing won’t really help in school, unless it shows you the steps, because the first line is given, and the first line has what it equals. the work i showed IS the answer.

Sin = sine, Cos = cosine, Tan = tangent

Spelling may be wrong.

My teacher just sent me this.

Homework Question:

Solve the following problem by modeling the lock as a non-deterministic finite state automoton!

An electronic lock has a circular dial with 4 equally spaced buttons on the rim each controlling a switch. If all 4 switches are in the on position or all in the off position the lock opens. You can attempt to open the lock by simultaneously pressing any number of the buttons. If you are lucky enough to thereby align the switches then the lock opens, otherwise the dial rapidly rotates for one minute. When it comes to rest and you have no way to know which buttons you pressed last time. Can you guarantee that you can open the lock in less than 15 minutes?

conceptually, you can never grantee anything with statistics. thus the inherent flaw with it.

as for the odds on it...lets see, lets find the odds for one combination first. there are two successful combinations, obviously, and 16 possible combinations (n= off, y= on, nnnn, nnny, nnyn, nynn, ynnn, nnyy, nyny, nyyn, ynny, ynyn, yynn, yyyn, yyny, ynyy, nyyy, yyyy). so, the odds of getting it right in a given try is 2/16, or 1/8. so, 12.5%. the odds of getting it every time in 15 minutes is .125^15, so 2.84 x 10^-14. so, the odds of it not getting it is 0.875, or 87.5%. thats for one try. for all the tries, the odds of not getting it is 0.135, or 13.5%. so, the odds of you getting through the lock in fifteen minutes are 0.865, or 86.5%.

statistics and probability blow...haha

btw, in case you were wondering, this is WAAAY harder then your basic sin/cos/tan shit you learn in geometry. and guess what? i have another whole assignment of it! two in a row...
