Because you probably don’t know what appositives, prepositional phrases, or adverbial phrases are. You would do terribly if you were told to underline the verb in a sentence and not even realize the verb is more than one word. You probably would identify a noun as the direct object if it were in a prepositional phrase. Do even know what part of speech “tomorrow” is without looking it up?

Our English teacher is showing us how terrible we are at English grammar. All of her classes-standard, honors, and even AP-know shit about grammar.

No.

Adverb.

It identifies when you did something. It modifies a verb.

I just stumbled across this accidentally on Google and thought I’d add that you’re living proof of why you need these lessons wink You think that 'why do we have to take language arts for' is an acceptable sentence! Also, you don’t appear to know how to use apostrophes, or spell the words 'since' or 'kindergarten'.

I think you need to start paying more attention in those classes!

Also, sorry for double posting but 'tomorrow' a pronoun? I fear for the intelligence of my generation.

Why in God’s name would century, which defines a period of 100 years, be abstract?

Unless you want to debate the nature of time, but that’s not really something you’d do in literature.

Why are we not allowed to use “theirselves” and “hisself/herself”? It makes more sense than “themselves” many times.

“Herself” is actually correct because her is objective, but hers is the possessive form. “Hisself” wouldn’t make sense because “his” is possessive.

In fact, what you said makes no sense, because you don’t actually know why.

When you say “He hurt himself," you aren’t using “himself” as a possessive noun, but rather as a direct object. “His” is a possessive pronoun, not an object. “Him” is an objective pronoun, and since the one being hurt is him, but he’s doing to his being, then its a direct object, the noun being “himself."

There was probably a simpler way to explain it, and more proper names for it, but there you go.
