Your country just happens to have perfected basing itself upon greed and one-upmanship. You have the most powerful economy in the world. But not the best. Indeed, most of your economy is based upon the military-industrial complex, and has been since the 60's, which essentially requires your country to be in a permanent state of war to prevent economic meltdown. Secondly, another massive chunk of your economy is based on borrowing, which can only be a bad thing. To be quite honest, even if your country was run by monkeys, you could still be a major global power. Your position in the world and vast natural resources have given you a massive boost over the years. The US is a exconomic power because of trade witch led to the great economy and soon higher taxes could be afforded and so on. I have no idea what borrowing and military has to do with anything that revolves around free trade. The economy of the US was doing fine fromt he korean war to the veitnam war and in both of those wars the US economy was affected.
