It’s simply mind boggling to me that John & Kate Plus 8 stars have remained at the top of the news cycle for the past month, while reports of North Korea’s nuclear experimentations and missiles tests have been buried in the various outlets that call themselves the news.

No doubt stories of Kim Jong Il will resurface shortly on the comics page, where they will be even less read. Yet, it’s not the media that is the target of my ire this afternoon, but rather the United Nations.

To borrow from Wikipedia for a second:
The United Nations (UN) is an international organization whose stated aims are to facilitate cooperation in international law, international security, economic development, social progress, human rights, and achieving world peace. The UN was founded in 1945 after World War II to replace the League of Nations, to stop wars between countries, and to provide a platform for dialogue.

Now compare the above to the following:
G.I. Joe is the codename for America’s Daring Highly Trained special mission force. It’s Purpose, to defend human freedom against COBRA, a ruthless terrorist organization determined to rule the world.

The only real difference between the two organizations?

One of them actually achieves their goals.
