i have a question for you it may seem like a joke but its not, more just curiosity and you don’t have to answer it if don’t want to
Do you like see hallucinations of this traumatic event?
That’s actually a very good question. No I don’t - but I know that does happen for some people - they’re called flashbacks. Now some people have a very narrow definition of flashbacks to include only experiences where you have visual flashbacks (i.e. hallucinations).
The other type (which is what I experience) is more that something might happen - you might see something, you might hear something, etc. - that reminds you of the situation. Although you don’t have a visual flashback, you still very much feel as if you are still in that situation. Your heart starts to pound too quickly, you tense up, your breathing changes, you go sweaty or cold, etc....all the usual bodily responses to fear or danger.
oh is it like paranoia?
Not quite. The current theory is that it is primarily a physiological (physical) response to extreme trauma.
When the body goes through anything traumatic, it goes into “fight or flight” mode. This is a normal reaction, and after most instances of danger the body returns to its normal state. With PTSD, however, the body seems to believe that it is almost constantly reliving the trauma, and gets “stuck” in a fight or flight mode pattern of responses.
thanks alote etain a saw that you tried to get a hold of me on msn,,,that means alote to me,,

No, it’s not. I have severe paranoia but not PTSD Etain wrote:

oh is it like paranoia? Thanks Baybee . Yeah that’s what I keep telling myself...maybe taking this program constitutes “cruel and unusual” but it’s supposed to get me a good job when I get back out. Supposed to.
Hmm a drink would be nice but I have my practicum placement tomorrow lol. PTSD is Posttraumatic Stress Disorder. Here’s the Wikipedia article on it.
I know of some Vietnam veterans that suffer from it, my mom’s step-dad was a medic in Vietnam and at even the slightest mention of Vietnam, he gets really really depressed. I love you Etain
You know my story so you know I relate.
On days like that, I smoke alot of weed, but since you don’t do drugs , I’d say have a drink but since your in university thats probably not a good idea.
Well, this is probably about a day or two late anyway lol but just take a few deep breaths and think of all the good things that will come to you once you get this university degree you’re aiming for.
*CHA CHING* Well like the many others on here I certainly wish you luck on everything. If you can think of anyway for us to help with your essays or practically anything else I doubt anyone would mind. (who cares if I’m only in tenth grade, I’ll take a snap at something if it helps even a little)
And like XTRM said, if it starts to get a little too bad a few days off wouldn’t hurt. I’m assuming that’s Post traumatic stress depression? Sounds like you need to take a few days off and get some r&r. Your health is at risk and I’m sure your school would understand taking a few days off. Stress can kill, you know? I feel for ya and genuinely hope this passes over with the best results as possible.
