The English language comes from Latin ...
I speak basic Spanish, fluent French & English and some Mohawk.
Words we use are derived from Latin vocabulary, but English is Germanic in structure.
However, as zeta said, Latin led to the Romantic languages (hence the name).
And, no, I can’t speak Latin, nor do I really care to seeing these two things:
1) Its dead
2) I’m not a scientist Prince Zuko wrote:

Latin is da conjunction of Arabic and Greek language (in other words Indo-European) which then one of its two forms, vulgar Latin became the roots for, Romanian, Spanish, French and Italian all romance languages
and yes although English, a Germanic language, takes 60% of it’s words from vulgar Latin
