Again, I am not sure the point you are trying to make.
I have got ” People should not be judged on what they do” I am finding it difficult to put to words on how you are supposed to define characteristics then?
If a hobby I pursued was to torture animals or rape children, would I be morbidly excepted as “I had a hard days of work, its nice to come home and tear a leg or two off a kitten or rape a 5 year old.“ Is this okay? No its not.
You misunderstand me. I’m not saying we shouldn’t judge people by their moral standards, in fact, I think that’s the best way to judge a person. I’m just saying that arrogant people who think they’re better than everyone else because they’re physically strong are fucking assholes, just like people who claim intellectual supremacy and call other people morons if they dont give shit about Friedrich Nietzsche.
I know it sounds cheesy, but really, everyone has their own talents and intrests which cannot be called superior or inferior to anyone else’s. If all someone does in their spare time is play Halo, but this person is two or three times happier than the average person, how can you call him a loser? He’s enjoying himself. And you can’t call him immoral because he’s not hurting anybody else. I’m not that kind of person, whatever you think, but at least I’m secure enough in my own worth through my moral actions and individual skills that I don’t go around thinking I’m better than someone else and trying to make them feel inferior because they like football/drinking/love stories etc. and I don’t.

What the fuck are you talking about? There is no such thing as a superior or inferior organism in biology. Don’t try to use pseudo-scientific claims to justify your statements.

No it’s not. There is no such thing as “the most important thing in life." Life is completely meaningless. Nothing is better or more worthwhile than anything else. We can give our life it’s own meaning, but that doesn’t mean these values are universal.
You called humans “superior” to apes before. Do you have any clue how strong most apes are? By that kind of reasoning a gorilla is superior to a human.

Again, quality is a matter of opinion. For most people it’s got more to do with money, social life, happiness and living conditions than physical strength anyway.

It’s plausible to assume that after a 14 hour work shift that you are exhausted and the last thing on your mind would be to stand under a barbell. That is human nature, it is part of the survival technique we have inbreeded into us.
Vaguely speaking on terms that will most likely push buttons on most of the users here. The man who is working hard in the gym after a days work to better himself and his quality of life IS IN FACT more accepted then the man who after a hard days work sits on his ass and watches TV or goes on the computer. Just so as it is with teenagers. Laziness is deemed upon as week, which is why the average teenager on this site may they be a male or female will not achieve a more successful and rewarding life then one of the same nature who goes out socializes and better’s himself.
Why would socializing matter to someone who wants to be by themself and play video games any more than reading fiction would matter to a sports nut who loves being outside and hates books?

Is it likely I am being irrational by putting a person I have no knowledge of into a group by one hobby he pursues? Yes it is. Should I of typed “lol” and neglect the hostility and play it off as “I don’t care." No, What does that accomplish and why is it that this thread was created?
I’m not saying I agree with his position or anyone else’s, but that doesn’t mean I agree with yours either.

We are superior apes.. we have evolved faster then any single organism on this planet. That is why humans run this world, not gorilla’s or chimpanzees.

Yes, Physical Strength is the most important thing in life. Strength is EVERYTHING you do, everything you lift, how you move, how you type on the computer.. it is the movement of your muscles.

No. Those are event’s, those are not attributions that are generalized as an event or experience. Physical Strength is a principal that characterizes how you move and display yourself. It is like comparing being able to see with being able to play guitar.

Having Rational Thought is one of the perks we picked up on when we evolved into what we are. But even though we classify ourselves as a superior animal.. we still have the survival genes in beaded inside us. We naturally judge a different organism on there ability to survive, produce more organisms and fend for themselves. We each have different preferences on what we want such as a woman may want a man who is strong (protect her and the family), Charismatic (Being able to communicate efficiently) and Healthy (life expectancy and healthy children) just as much as a woman may want a Skinny male with a great smile.
It is not possible to be able to look so vaguely at a person and look at someone totally different and be able to produce the same reaction and expression. If someone says they look at everyone the exact same.. they are a lier.

True, but the majority of people don’t want to look like a huge slab of muscle. Most would rather have a Superman type of strength than a Hulk type of strength.
oh hai wrote:

Evolution is not a ladder to greatness, simply changes that adapt things to their specific environment. That is why you cannot call any organism “superior” to anything else, because it is a subjective quality and all living organisms have different qualities in which they excel.
Humans can develop complex technology and are more intelligent than chimpanzees or gorillas, so they are superior in that sense, but so what? You can assign any quality as evidence as superiority and it will have to objective basis as overall supremacy. If you assume physical strength = superiority, then gorillas are 'superior' to humans. If you assume reproduction = superiority then bacteria are 'superior' to humans. If you assume the ability to regenrate limbs = superiority then starfish are 'superior' to humans. The only reason you think homo sapiens are superior to other organisms is because of your subjective values. This is what I am trying to get at.
oh hai wrote:

Another subjective assumption because you are assuming life is important on an objective level, and thus what need in life is important. It’s not, it’s meaningless objectively. It’s just here, like everything else. You cannot physically scan an object with a machine and measure how important it is... these values are in your head.
With that logic, I could assume intelligence is the most important thing in human life, because the brain controls everything we do and all the movements of our skeletal muscles (except spinal reflexes, but those aren’t conscious). But you know what? That assumption wouldn’t be valid either because life is objectively meaningless.
oh hai wrote:

Actually, I’m sure there would be at least 100 people around the world who wouldn’t be happier at getting stroner, for whatever reason. But even so, the fact that getting stronger often makes people happier doesn’t make it any more important than anything else that can also make you happier. In fact, you cannot even say happiness is important because the universe doesn’t give a shit about your quality of life, or anything else for that matter. Why can’t you understand this? No matter what youachieve, in the end, it’s worth is based on your values. Even if everyone in the world agreed with you, it would not make it physical concrete reality.
oh hai wrote:

They are achievements nonetheless, besides, improving grades as an event can be generalized as an improvement in intelligence in a particular field. So can a pay rise be generalized as improved social skills or work ethic. Sure, they could be due to other factors, but so could your bench press going up. In any case, I could use other examples to prove my point such as an increase in IQ and you cannot place them as more important that physical improvement or anything else.

I understand we are all judgemental of others deep down in some way, but that doesn’t mean people have to take it to the extreme and be an asshole if they think they’re superior, which in the end they aren’t anyway. It’s good to know the truth about actual reality, even if your behaviour is in line with your principles.

How so? The fact that I find other people’s behaviour annoying does not contradict my belief that I think nobody is overall superior to anybody else. Things that I personally like or dislike are completely seperate from a sense of actual superiority.
