Why do they think they are the shit when most of them are not? They train for looks and they eat to attain those looks, they choose looks as their top priority and not strength. But a lot of them assume since they are meatier than an athlete, in their mind, they think they are stronger than that athlete. That is not so, I know 130lb powerlifters who appears to be scrawny but has much heavier lifts than a lot of bodybuilders. May not be benchpress but it will be squats, deadlifts and other powerlifts. Bodybuilders do not work for functional strength, they work to attain strength and gains they can show off in the gym. A man can be benchpressing 225lbs but can’t do enough pushups or carry around big bags of cements. Carrying around big bags of cements is what we call functional strength, can you imagine bodybuilders doing work like this? No, I didn’t think so, so don’t think just because your biceps are larger than someone else means you are stronger than them. No it doesn’t mean that.And their workouts cause their muscles to become very sluggish, not fast twitch and not explosive, they can’t last in a fight against a real pro fighter. What do you guys think? Agree or disagree?

I think you are an idiot, here’s why;
For ONE thing,
I am a bodybuilder, and I know I do not train to show off my muscles. Even though that is part of the resume its not nearly painted in the big picture. I train to see how far I can take my body (which is what bodybuilding is ALL about). It is not about “dude I got bigger arms then you” or “who can lift more” and if you think it is.. then you are the same type of guy who searches bodybuilding videos just to say “steroids."
Bodybuilding is a sport that many men and woman cannot not do. Why? Because it takes A LOT of dedication, hard work and a strong will.
As well, just so you know.. calling a bodybuilder weak is very impudent and redundant to the fact it almost makes me hurl. How can you say this? In order to build muscle you have to increase the weight which stretches the muscle fiber so it can perform better (aka.. lift more). One of the strongest men in the world Ronnie Coleman (professional bodybuilder) ;

As for the “fighting” comment.. PLEASE. Save yourself and don’t be so ignorant. Yes, muscles are intimidating but any bodybuilder who uses his muscles to attack someone is nothing less then a wannabe. Though, I know there is not one power lifter I know who can kick my ass let alone bench/ curl more then I can.
Your WHOLE statement is blunt, vague and stupid. You want to insult us.. then you put your ass in the gym 5 days a week, work your ass off every second and eat perfect meals. THEN you tell me that bodybuilding is easy stuff.

Bodybuilders do not have functional strength, I didn’t say they were weak, what I did in fact say is that they prioritize shaping, defining and building muscle over strength. So what? Yes they lift heavier loads in order to gain. But they don’t have FUNCTIONAL muscles, this is what you fail to understand, you just completely avoided it, they eat, train just to build muscle mass and hide behind big pecs, while posing on stage, that’s it. You can’t say I am lying because this is a fact. No, I don’t go on youtube posting on videos saying “Steroids” I don’t know how you made that assumption, you are just in complete denial and walking by everything i just said which is completely true. Bodybuilders may be strong in the gym, but that’s just it.
And what are you talking about? It’s not like you are a professional fighter, there are powerlifters who can definitely outbench you, because they emphasize strength over looks, Power lifters are big and bulky because they go for less reps in everything they do in order to lift a certain load.
And stop lying, there are bodybuilders all over the place who judges your physique over anything else, they have superiority complexes, they boast about shit like “My arms are larger than yours” or “you are a scrawny fuck”, don’t lie, you do it.

First off, bodybuilding is 100% about the body hence BODYbuilding. So of course they check themselves out often. Its a way of looking to see what you need to improve on and it gives you more self confidence to continue with the strenuous lifestyle. As for the functional strength.. I beg to differ. I do not understand how you got that “lifting weights” does not reciprocate into lifting boxes or moving something heavy. How is their a difference and how do power lifters obtain the difference when they are doing mutually the same workout regime but with more weight and less reps?
The huge look that is found on heavy-weight bodybuilders .. may not be functional as there huge lats and massive arms get in the way more then help. But for the other bodybuilders.. well I have found it is a lot easier to lift my girlfriend up, lift heavy boxes, push heavy objects and move stuff around NOW then before I started getting ridiculous amount of muscle.
You have not stated a valuable fact against bodybuilding yet, and I think you are just insecure when you are around Big Muscular guys so you bash them on the internet. Am I wrong? You have yet to prove so..

Okay, so we both made our points and I apologize for flamming your topic. There is just one thing I would like to state.
Bodybuilders usually have slow twitch fibers, this enables them to go for more reps. There are bodybuilders who can deadlift 450lbs for 10 reps but can’t go 550lbs for even one rep. This is where powerlifters have more fast twitch fibers which enable them to go for less rep, but more load, hence they are able to lift a bigger load than bodybuilders. Like for instance, a bodybuilder is able to benchpress a certain weight for 10 reps but he can’t lift a heavier load, and the powerlifter can lift that load for only a few reps but he can’t lift the same amount as the bodybuilder for that amounts of reps because he has more fast twitch muscle fibers and explosiveness which is very important in a fight, because of the slow twitch fibers of bodybuilders, they can do so much and no more. This is where they are lacking in functional strength and this is where powerlifters 1 up them. Once again i apologize for anything offensive i posted in your thread and no, I am not insecure against bodybuilders in real life. I don’t see any reason to be afraid of them but there are quite a few who talks a lot of shit. Like the professional fights they had and powerlifting competitions as well as miles they run in X amount of time. When it’s clearly a big lie. I am an athlete and I can tell some of these guys are lying about their feats

I will just like to clarify that my knowledge in the field you are testing me on is far more advanced then anyone you will meet besides a registered health professional.
Now let me try to explain to you how you are wrong;
Fast twitching muscle fibers are used for short bursts of energy in a short amount of time. While Slow twitch muscle fibers are used for endurance (marathons) and long bursts of energy in an X amount of time.
Bodybuilding depends more on fast twitch muscle fibers then slow as a set is usually not regarded as a marathon.
Fast Twitch Muscle Fibers have very few mitochondria while they carry and use large levels of stored glycogen and the enzymes necessary for producing energy without oxygen. There are two types of categories that F/T muscle fibers are classified in; Fast-Oxidative-Glycolytic and Fast-Glycolytic. They differ in there fast twitch properties. One uses more sustained red blood cells while the other relies more on oxygen.
Hopefully I haven’t lost you yet, Slow-twitch fibres (which is used for marathon.. endurance activities) possess more mitochondria and myoglobin (amino acidic cell head). These are red in coloring as a result of the amino acids and blood line. These fibers are used to pursue long bursts of energy enzymes to sustain one over a long activity period (a marathon or triathlon).
Don’t get me wrong.. we need both of them to have a successful and enjoyable life but I just don’t see bodybuilders running triathlons. Endurance is not part of the sport.
The average person has 50/50 fast and slow muscle fibers.
EDIT-
However, power lifters DO rely on fast twitch muscle fibers more then Bodybuilders.. as they are usually using intense bursts of energy (but not as much). While bodybuilders have to save energy throughout the workout (slow twitch) while applying intensity in all their reps (fast twitch).

Fail post is fail
Bodybuilders build EVERY single muscle group in the body whereas a power lifter only work a handful of muscle to achieve the desired lift. A bodybuilder would have more overall strength in areas a power lifter can’t even touch.
Power lifters train for only a certain amount of exercises;
Dead lifts, squats and bench pressing. While Bodybuilders train everything. Power lifting does not require you to meet a certain body fat fat percentage to qualify which makes it ALOT easier then bodybuilding.
Power lifters eat as much as they can of ANYTHING, they don’t care about gaining fat or muscle.. they just care about increasing their lifts and over energy / calorie intake.
Power lifters train only on Squats, Dead lifts and Bench pressing so .. obviously they get better at it then a bodybuilder who has A LOT more obstacles to go around.
You tell me “notabodybuilder” that Power Lifting is easier and I show you a mirror which ideals a nescient human being.
Lets make a Chart;
Bodybuilding VS Powerlifting
Strict diet B
Strength needed for sport PL
Knowledge in field B PL
Symmetry B
Size B
Please.. tell me how a Power Lifter is the “shit” while a Bodybuilder isn’t? Especially when bodybuilders would be much stronger in real life situations while looking good then a power lifter? Shiit.. and half the time the strength comes from the belts or shirts power lifters are using! You think bodybuilders have a belt or shirt that helps them gain muscle? LMAO.
Also, Ronnie Coleman has those long lengthy legs so that’s a helluva squat. He also had his knees/feet closer together whereas a powerlifter spreads their feet far apart for less work, improper form. Powerlifters usually have short, stubby legs which benefits them in the squat as well. In the worlds strongest man competitions they take their shoes off for less height area to cover to do the squat. Coleman is a beast.
So as I see it, powerlifters don’t use proper form by a bodybuilder’s standards. Powerlifters kinda cheat for less resistance. all they care about is making the lift. Using proper form (by bodybiulding standards) can make the lift 10 times more difficult... Thus the muscle growth.
