It’s getting frustrating studying Kickboxing (and other people studying Muay Thai,Karate,Tae Kwon Do,Kung Fu etc.) if you always hear of Judo/Jiu Jitsu/Aikido/BJJ/Wrestling just running in and knocking them down before the lock, etc.
It’s annoying if all of these clubs promote self defence and you go learn but in a real fight you end up getting laid on and you panic/don’t know how to buck properly!
Is there any strategy fighting grapplers? I mean, the martial arts were intended for defence and developed 100s of years ago for soldiers who got thrown off their horse/lost weapons-there MUST be a reason many don’t include floorwork!
Muay Thai is your best bet. The trick for stand up is to get a quick knock out or keep the fight on the feet with excellent take down defense and make the grappler stay on his feet. But most fights end up on the ground. Muay Thai and jiu Jitsu mixed (in my opinion) are the best hand to hand combat skills you could learn.

I already study kickboxing-idk what type but it is orginally based on Lau Gar Kung Fu but we wear Japanese Gi and also call it Sport Karate.
We don’t learn Jiu-Jitsu until Black Belt
The only reason I don’t want to do Muay Thai and BJJ is:
1. It gives off a bad image-as if i’m one of those thugs out of the UFC.
2. Muay Thai can apparently be neutralised with lateral movements (like what we study-moving around)
3.BJJ looks too sloppy and simply like tackling with sheer strength before the groundwork
Any way I can learn how to get around grapplers/learn how to knock them out quick? Any examples?

well first off, the whole debate “which martial art is the best?" boils down to who is more experienced, in better shape, and WANTS to win or should i say NEEDS to win...lol
So as advice to you, study your martial art and become as proficient as humanly possible with it. There is no point in debating hypothetical combat situations...eg. what if he shoots in and takes me down before i get off my roundhouse etc. Thing is no matter how good you are it still may happen... soooo yes its good to be prepared, but you will never be if you keep asking and never practicing. From what ive learned its all about muscle memory reflex thing, you do with out thinking, you just do it.
best way to knock a grappler out quick... shoot him? i dunno gun trumps wrestler all the time...
I do San Shou, we incorporate throws and takedown type stuff with our kickboxing. Really for fist fighting applications find yourself a wrestling, BJJ, grappling friend and fight each other every night till you figure it out. They shoot in, throw yourself on top and shoot your legs back away. Sport fighting and street fighting are very very VERY different. Street fight - just wail on him and dont stop, you guys go down keep wailing, hit the back of the neck and spine and base of skull, groin, joint strikes, really everywhere that is illegal in sport fighting cause there aint no rules in a street fight and there are reasons why those strikes are illegal. Grab his jaw and back of skull and wrench it around till you hear a loud pop, it helps if you jolt while doing it a little to tighten up the muscles and damage them more.
In a sport fight i dunno, kick his jaw so hard it breaks. Dont let him grab your legs. Keep your kicks low below his arms so he has to drop his face and upper guard to grab them.
Oh best bet... dont go around thinking you are hot fighting shit and can beat everyone(not saying you do this). If you sit there and brag about your skills and get beat I think your pride gets hurt worse than your body. I like the - practice all the time thing and just know you are good but no one else does, surprise is your best strategy.
I may not be making sense because im in a hurry sorry.

Just know that any sport grappler knows how to do illegals hits/moves if it went to the street. There’s no tap-outs on the street. How you going strike and kick with dislocated joints and snapped bones?

That’s why i’m so annoyed- if these martial arts were for self-defence purposes and were used on the battlefield then WHY do they not incorporate grappling defence/so sort of wrestling defence?
The best way to have good takedown defense is to actually have experience in wrestling and BJJ, you would have to be practicing your singles and doubles, practicing your sprawls, learning the fundamental aspects of the spots is the only way to defend against it. It is much easier for a fighter with only BJJ or wrestling background to adapt to fighting standing up. If anyone said that groundfighting is sloppy, then maybe you should give it a try. I guarantee that three minutes of rolling with someone on the ground is much more tiring than 5 minutes standing up. If you are a good standup striker and you get taken down, what will you do from there? You have no knowledge of reversals when caught in that situation hence you can’t effectively defend against it. So anyways, it all boils down to how much experience both of these fighters have, their strength and conditioning, their weight, height etc.
If a fighter with moderately good standup and groundgame but very good strength and conditioning, if he is up against a grappler who is very experienced yet he isn’t very conditioned, if they had a fight and the more conditioned fighter lasts the first round, chances are he would gain control of the fight in the later rounds. If two fighter, one with good standup and the other with good groundgame were to hit it off, more than likely the fighter with good groundgame would come out victorious, all he has to do is look for an opening and take the fight to the ground. He is much more flexible than the standup fighter. The standup fighter would likely not have good takedown defense and by the time he is on the ground, consider the fight over.

In my experience, someone who has never had any grappling, or wrestling experience but has done some sort of striking for many years, can not stop me from taking them down or stop me from imposing my will on them once I grab a hold.
