actually i see what you mean
in hockey people go MUCH faster then in rugby
so there would be a far more impact
also you can have a puck get whipped into your face
so yeh, you are right
And there are other factors;
1. Hockey sticks
2. Skates
3. Ice
4. Boards
5. Glass
etc..

Yes the hits are harder in football , but their all padded and their upper body hits and wrap ups , you dont have people drop kick you in the knee in NFL
They also dont have to keep american football fans behind cages. There are lots of countrys that keep all the fans separate in soccer and cage them in with roofs and all , so the fans of soccer are tougher anyway :P

I played Foot ball for a few years and it was brutal but when I tried out Hockey and got PWND by the more experianced players it motivated me to start going to the practicese and let me tell you, trucking someone into their buds at full speed on ice is way more satisfieing than simply running into them and alot more painful for you and the victem.

Soccer... Football players usually get paralyzed not killed. People have died from extensive injury or overexaustion in soccer. Game, set, match.
