that is not completely true because I am 14 and I did 58.
This is also not alwasy true because I am 12, 80 pounds, and 4 foot 8 inches and I can do about 40 push ups.
I’m 13 and can do 40-45, when i’m in the zone 50. so yah not 100% true.
Im 14 and I did 53 pushups but on average I can do about 20-30,
hope that helps. “
yeah i know i saw that. im just wondering what it would be cause im one of the more athletic people in my school but my fb coach says that alot of byram hill kids r weak upperbodys so im just wondering that if what people consider alot in my grade is acually alot. hazzah i win!

well at that age if your fairly fit you should be able to do quite a few pushups as your going to weigh less then you will over the next few years which means your power to weight ratio ought to be fairly decent , but pull ups are more demanding then pushups as your having to lift your whole body weight and not just part of it like in pushups. From what i remember i think i was able to do 40 pushups and around 14 or so pullups. Unless you have been doing some regular strength training and cardio then id say most kids that age would be doing somewhere between 25-30 pushups and 6-10 pullups.
I don’t even know what you guys are talking about? Total pushups/pullups or consecutive til failure? Anyways you are right, the proper pushup is only 60% of your total body weight, and that is with good form so pullups are obviously more demanding since you are using your biceps and your upper back to pull your entire body up. I can’t imagine the average 13YO doing more than 7 consecutive pushups and not even a single pullup, not unless this 13 year old is athletic, but speaking on an average level. I don’t see them doing much. Also rep count is more of muscular endurance than strength, keep that in mind and don’t confuse them.
i was talking about consecutive. And while muscular endurance plays a part for those kinds of exercises strength is equal or more important , doing 100s of reps with 1kg weights isnt going to train your muscles to lift your weight for pullups , but itd give you more of a chance then not training them at all . But i was probably overestimating the average kid. I basically took what i was able to do at that age and toned it down . . .but now that i think about it probably not enough ?, kind of hard for me to judge as ive always been very athletic.

I didn’t go till fail but I couldn’t have did much more.
If you can do 21 pullups, you can easily do at least 70-80 pushups.
Hm,
Pulls ups are more lat and bicep related while pushups are more tricep and pectorial related. But I agree that it is next to impossible to max out only twice the # of pullups in pushups.
Conan, if you can do 21 pullups you are like 5-6 under me and I can easily clean 100 pushups.
If you are doing pushups right after pull ups then you will be fatigued.
If you are doing wide stanced pushups then it will be alot more difficult to perform them as you are turning the exercise into more of an isolation movement then compound.
Pushups should be a bit more then shoulder width with palms touching ground, back straight and legs stiff.

K, I did a few like that just now and they seem a bit easier.
