IMHO I’m a Machida fan; I can kind of see how they scored it the way they did, it being close and all, but at the same token, he shouldn’t have won. I would, honestly, rather have seen him lose than that.
That being said, I feel his style has become predictable in a more general sense. Mauricio was expecting his strikes to get dodged and for Lyoto to react back and that’s exactly what Lyoto did, which let Rua get in the better shots. He’d attack almost lazily, Lyoto would come at him, he’d block and retaliate right back at him. People are starting to expect that kind of thing from Lyoto.
And honestly, there wasn’t a single takedown. If Lyoto had gotten a few trips in like he had gotten on Silva for his first knock-out, it probably would have gone differently.

Past is the past, can’t change it. Rashad is probably one of the next in line for a title shot, what with the whole Ultimate Fighter gig. Best thing he can improve on from the last one is more wrestling and trying to stay away from the striking that lets Machida set things up.
Okay, speel over.
