so how much do you have to drink for water to actually fill your lungs?

it sounds completely improbable to me... surely you’d have to do it on purpose

Kay, I haven’t been working out lately due to my job taking up all my time but now I’m back in it. My muscles have shrunk but that’s okay because the newb gains are sweet.

I just got back from Sports Authority store and got me some new training shoes and a few very tight muscle shirts which have special sweat absorbent materials to keep you cool and also Under Armour socks (which were $15 fawking bucks a pair for socks). I was going to get the Under Armour Proto Trainer shoes but they’ve been recalled. I looked at other Under Armour shoes but the gal there said the mesh on them are very weak and it’s not uncommon for the mesh to rip. So I went with Nike Air Monarch Trainer shoes. I’m happy with them.

Now it’s time to get it ON!!!

So today I bought, for 2 dollars, a set of six protein “shots”.

26 grams in each vial, 110 calories, no fat.

Don’t know how it tastes yet, I’ll give one a try tomorrow after the gym. Back and shoulders day ;O

Tastes pretty good. Like a really thick fruit punch.

And for $2 for a six-pack, it’s a great deal.

The brand is Body Fortress, if you guys are interested.

I’m telling you. 26 grams, no sugars, and it tastes pretty good all things considered.

Much better alternative to the $5-6 4-packs of the other stuff. It’s only like 2 or 3 sips so you can just down it right after.

Wow that’s a really good deal. I take 45 to 50 grams of whey protein after each workout so Two of those bad boys should do the trick. And it also has Anabolic Amino (BCAA) in it. Not too shabby. Although it has collagenic protein and casein protein which I’m unfamiliar with. Maybe that’s why it’s soo cheap? The 100% Whey is a lot more expensive it seems.

Casein is the main protein in milk {Etain is very allergic so we have to keep our eyes out on the ingredient list}

I found this description, in relation to supplementing “Casein protein has an excellent amino acid profile and is primarily known as an extremely slow-digesting protein.

Casein protein is a slow-digesting protein because it forms a gel in the gut, which results in a steady release of amino acids into the blood stream over time. Research shows that when you consume casein, you will reach a peak in blood amino acids and protein synthesis between three to four hours. The total release of amino acids in the bloodstream, however, can last as long as 7 hours after ingestion of casein protein! Whey protein, in comparison, reaches a peak in blood amino acids and protein synthesis in about forty minutes and the total release ends in about an hour.“

as for collagenic protein, Collagen is the connective tissue in animals, including us. I looked around a bunch of sites and found this as it relates to fitness and working out. “Athletes, due to their consistent training regimes, impart significantly greater “ground reaction forces” compared to their sedentary counterparts. These ground reaction forces are primarily absorbed by the body’s joints, and over time, this can result in joint degradation. For that reason, any nutritional means that improves the shock-absorbing capabilities of the joints could prevent injury and allow for uninterrupted, high-intensity training, something all athletes and fitness enthusiasts would welcome.

Since collagen hydrolysate has been shown to exert an anabolic (building) effect on cartilage tissue, there is a strong theoretical rationale for collagen hydrolysate improving joint structure and integrity in athletes leading to a reduction in joint pain.“

hope this helps

Oh I see. So I wouldn’t want to take this stuff directly after a workout because the most effective protein synthesis occurs 40 minutes to an hour after working out, and how much of the 26 grams is actually whey? This stuff with the collagenic and casein would be better for pre-workout or long endurance activities to keep your body filled with time-release nutrients through the duration.

Yeah, I’ll stick with 100% Whey for what I do. But thanks for the info. Always good to know what the purpose of supplements you put in your body and how to use them correctly.

that’s what it sounds like, take a shot or two an hour or two before working out to take advantage of the peak synthesis and it does sound like the Collagen and Casein lend themselves to endurance workouts or for someone like me who does 2 or 3 sets in an hour several times a day as opposed to one long workout

I have Multiple Sclerosis and have a lot of damage to my nervous system so I space my routines out. I have quite a bit of muscle mass to compensate for the nerve damage and I am on some medications that cause weight gain. I’m limited to a couple 20 pound and 10 pound dumbbells. So I do a lot of presses and curls plus self resistance exercises

Casein is the main protein in milk {Etain is very allergic so we have to keep our eyes out on the ingredient list}

Why do you work out several times daily? What are your fitness goals?

I have Multiple Sclerosis and have a lot of damage to my nervous system so I space my routines out. I have quite a bit of muscle mass to compensate for the nerve damage and I am on some medications that cause weight gain. I’m limited to a couple 20 pound and 10 pound dumbbells. So I do a lot of presses and curls plus self resistance exercises

Oh, that’s pretty good despite the condition. I am surprised you have much time to squeeze all that in though. Calisthenics(bodyweight exercises) is probably the next best alternative
to weight exercises for developing muscle mass. But you will be surprised that you can do a lot of challenging weight exercises with a couple of 10-20lbs dumbbells. weighted squats, weighted step ups(on an elevated platform), flyes, arnold press, concentration curls, snatches, snatch squats etc all of those are pretty sweet, if you can get access to a pull up bar, that makes things a whole lot better since you can do chinups and different pullup variations.
