If you are talking most famous global franchise, it would have to be the New York Yankees over Man U.
The Yankee logo is main stream pop culture associated not only with the most winningest team in the world but with fashion, music etc. Although Man U has a large global following, you would be hard pressed to see a youth in the inner city of Virginia wear a Man U hat, and it would not be a stretch to find a Yankee hat worn in the city streets of Sweden.
