his bankai releases a mass of pure light. nothing can survive pure light. NOTHING!

Well I’d have to disagree. Hao survived light.
Also, on namek Piccolo was barely seeing light, but Vegeta saw all of Frieza’s attacks and could react to them. So it’s plausable how fast they react is light speed, depending on how you interpret the wording.
