It’s a pointless fight though. One of the things that makes Supes so special is his ability to speed blitz.
Just saying, if it’s not going to be equalized speed then Superman utterly rapes. Sephiroth is above lightning speed at best, though we don’t know how far above. Cloud dodges lightning easily, and Seph speed blitzes Cloud. So blargh. Speed equalized it’s a decent debate because if I recall Supes is weak to magic and mind attacks, something that Seph has plenty of.
but didn’t you say those aren’t really magic but are forces of nature. besides superman tanked etrigin’s magic blast that send him to the moon.
he isn’t weak against it, he just doesn’t have a sort of defense for it. also there where several cases of when magic is planted on superman(Captain marvel vs superman revived)and that didn’t save marvel enough to win. it takes alot of it right now to put him down.
Sephiroth has better reflexes than Broly, he’s more nimble while Supes fighting style is clunking and power weighted. Sephiroth can’t pull of strong attacks however.

You are looking at it like Sephiroth HAS to use melee attacks. Which is not the case. Sephiroth could use moves such as stop on Superman, or blind. I dunno if he has immunity to transmution..

Do you think this alien had greater mental capabilities then Sephiroth? Sephiroth’s will is so powerful that he was able to control hundreds of people at one time, he was able to will himself back from the lifestream time and time again. He’s strong enough to keep his consciousness separated from the lifestream, and his illusions are powerful enough to trick the mind into thinking they’re real. Such as Cloud and Tifa feeling the heat of the flames from the Nibelheim illusion in the crater.

well the telepathic attack was mild strong compared to Lord Max’s and Manchester Black’s who actually got a successful hit in.(those too were strong telepath but they fought superman indirectly so he could do anything to stop it.) his mental fortitude comes from ancient Krytonian arts Traveqism(i think that how it was spelled).
I’d also like to question the degree of Superman’s resistance to magic. Most materia may call forth nature’s power. But there are still attacks like Shadow Flare, Heartless Angel, and Pale Horse to take into account. As well an non-naturally occurring materia abilities like Slow, Bio, Berserk, ect.
