Salinger’s The Catcher in the Rye. A cult favorite among both students and literary critics, the novel has been called a parable, an allegory, a myth, a morality tale, a parody, a political trastise, even a vision of the apocalypse. Ant yet the most compelling arugument that may account for its enduring popularity is the deceptive simplicity of its narrative. Lord of the Flies is an adventure tale in its purest form, a thrilling and elegantly told account of a group of British schoolboys marooned on a tropical island. Alone in a world of uncharted possibilities, devoid of adult supervision or rules, the boys begin to forge their own society, their own rules, their own rituals. With this seeminglyromantic premise, through the seemingly innocent acts of children, Golding exposes the duality of humen nature itself-the dark, enternal divide between order and chaos, itellect and instinct, structure and savagery. “He here presents the universe," wrote E.M. Forster in his 1962 introduction,“under the guise of a school adventure story on a coral island." Critics and readers have agreed that Golding’s metaphorical vision achieves its greatest power through the pure dramatic intensity of the tale itself. The book’s terrifying escalation of violence seems an inevitalbe as it is chilling. It engrosses, it challenges, and it reveals.
This was written by E.M Forester.

They elect the main character named, Ralph, leader of them. But Jack eventually makes his own tribe and they become savages thus leaving Ralph, Piggy, simon, and Sam & Eric alone. Janck and Roger, who loves to torture things, kills a pig and rips its head off and gives it to the Lord of the Flies, who everyone thinks is a monster on the island, but is really the evil in themselves and the devel.
Simon, who represent a crist like figure is told by the Lord of the Flies to go play with others, which was Jack and roger, and when Simon came down the boys thought that he was a monster and killed him.
Ralph= order, leader
Piggy= intellagence, smart
Simon= Christ like good
Jack= Anarchy, Evil
Roger= Satin, Torturer, sadist, pure evil.
If you have not read the Lord of the Flies I highly recomend you on doing so, it has such a strong symbolic meaning to it.

Link Guest | i also read that book. The book does have such a symbolic message to it. And did you know that The Lord of the Flies is from the hebrew word Beelzebub which in the Bible is a fallen angel not lucifer himself but one of his most trusted followers.
