you seem like you can see somewhat through the veil of what is most wrong with the u.s government/media which also pervades u.s society. why do you look to greenday, which are really just an intelligent band, to air your viewpoint?

But they did what not to many people were doing at the time. They made a song that expressed their opinions. Too many people were to afraid to do that because they were afraid they would get critisized. But Green Day didn’t care they expressed what they thought and not in a nice way either.
I mean down here American Idiot got banned from the radio because they said it was too vulgar. Yet they play rap all the time which is 10x worse. That’s how bad it got. So I thought it was cool that Green Day stood up for what they believe in. I mean I thought the exact same thing after 911 that Green Day thought. Terroists got us and we need to strike back. We did but then Iraq pops up and every American is so afraid of another terrorist attack that they vote to go over to Iraq without thinking. So hence the name American Idiot because in that situation we were idiots. I would love to explain the whole song in detail but that would take an extremely long post.

is it because they dont like to hear the u.s being defamed in any way, and are they just being media fed idiots? democracy is about the freedom to challenge what we believe isnt it? i believe u.s citizens should really watch n.b.c/listen to those around them with a pinch(truck load!) of salt.
green day are a real good band, i watched them at leeds festival over here in england in 2004, i can only remember watching them, the datsuns and morrissey, i was copleteley mashed!
please remember i’m not slagging the u.s.a, i want it to be the country that it SHOULD be, the flagship of the world!

And your exactly right. It’s your right and duty to challenge government. If you don’t like what they say then talk about it. Exercise your first amendment. When American stops doing that they just turn into a dictatorship something we were very close to after 911. Don’t always just agree with the crowd. Always got to keep challenging government or they will get corrupt. America would have been so great after 911 if we wouldn’t have gotten afraid. Can’t get fearfull in those situations.
Luckily now everyone is starting to see how bad of an idea it was to go in Iraq. I call it the new Vietnam. That’s exactly what it is. We can’t win this war because they aren’t fearful of death over there. They won’t ever stop and you can’t beat that.

what an oppurtune time to control an oil rich nation!?

Some oil and some terrorists that will never stop no matter what we will do to them. It just wasn’t worth that many deaths. Oil can corrupt anybody nowadays, I guess. I mean this just went to far and everyone knows that by now.
But still we haven’t won yet. We haven’t defeated Iraq. We just kinda pushed them back. They may stop until we leave and as soon as your gone it will be back to the way it was before. They didn’t want to be helped over there. I mean it’s kinda like Iraq coming over here and telling us everything we’ve done and believed in is wrong and you must change. It’s always good to look at both views.

what would you do if the iraqi army was moving in to your street?
though it is slightly different, there are some iraqi’s that are glad that the dictator was deposed, some not, though it is not really in the interest of the iraqi’s that the war is about.
the u.s government capitalised on the situation of fear regarding 9/11, and invaded iraq for no particular reason, only to say that papa bush was looking after everybody an controling another slice of the world.
a thousand american lives means nothing to the u.s government in comparison to millions of barrels of oil. it as simple as that.

I like Green Day because I like a lot fo classic rock. And they kinda use the drums and guitars the same way they did back then. They always have wonderful lyrics with great background music.

American Idiot CD just had the best written lyrics I have ever read. I mean it has so many meanings it is like they wrote a movie. Kinda like an opera if you know what I mean. As some call it the rock opera CD.
